I try to keep the Sims class DD Hammann away from Yorktown and both of them away from I-168 when I play the Allied side. The Hammann was alongside trying to help with damage control and torpedoes went underneath her to hit the Yorktown in almost the same places as she was damaged in the Coral Sea battle. Except it appears that with the list, the torpedoes actually struck the bottom of the Yorktown's hull. The Yorktown had been abandoned but did not want to sink until then.

This is important in China:

Once a unit reaches 100 planning points, it may conduct training to increase it’s experience rating. Each nationality has a basic experience value that their units can train to without having to be in combat. As long as you are under this value and have 100 planning points, there is a chance the unit will gain experience. The following table details the maximum level a unit may train to, based on its Nationality:
IJ Army 55 IJ Navy 50 US Navy 50 US Army 60 US Marines 65 Australian 65 New Zealand 55 British 55 French 55 Dutch 50 Chinese 45 Soviet 60 Indian 55 Commonwealth 55 Philippines 45 Canada 50

That is reason that in early war, I don't change unit objectives. Lot of Chinese units are 30-35 exp.

Sardaukar,

Your readers should read my post #11 in this thread

tm.asp?m=4595667&mpage=1&key=&#4596745

which goes into more detail re LCU experience gain and planning points.

Thanks Alfred!

You are the living encyclopedia of WitP-AE and everyone should pay attention. People, read that link and what Alfred writes.

I still after these years remember that I was able to correct you *once* [:D][8D]

I'll post situation and save from end of Feb 42 1942 when getting there, just like end of Jan. [8D] I am now Feb 19 1942.

So far been one of the most interesting games I have had against AI. I don't think I have encountered this specific AI script before (AFAIK there are 13 of those, made by AndyMac)

Burma:

I have over 2000 AV there, so not losing this one...and that's not counting 6th and 7th AUS Divisions plus 2 Indian divisions en-route.

Have to get something to Port Blair before Japanese do...

China has been stabilized:

Note the massive difference of supply situation when holding Rangoon and having supply route to China open. No exclamation marks.

Some notes:

- IJ invaded Noumea. Fortunately I managed to get AUS bn there just in time to prevent it being overrun. Now NZ brigade is en-route there to evict those unwanted tenants.
- north AUS is safe and building up nicely. Lots of fuel and supply in Darwin.
- DEI will be lost in future, but not without fight. Dutch Surface Combat TFs have done really well against landings.
- Port Moresby will need some reinforcing, so that is next priority. Fortunately I have 3 US CVs in Sydney to cover the convoys.
- amusingly I am experiencing lack of xAKs in San Francisco...have to remedy that. Need to get more plains to AUS ASAP.
- Clark, Bataan, Manila and Singapore are still holding.
- sub war has been good for Allies so far

Other than that...reinforcements are coming and situation is not too bad.

BREAKING NEWSCAST!

Adm. Spruance commanding TF 376 puts an end to IJN CVL TF harassing Midway I. His TF consists of CV Saratoga and 14 DDs.

3 day running battle resulted sinking of IJN CVL Shoho.

IJN capital ship / CV / CVL losses to day: CV Akagi (torpedoed by Dutch sub), BB Nagato (dive bombers from Port Moresby), CVL Shoho (incredibly took 14 (!) bombs and a torpedo to put her down).

USN capital ship etc. losses: None apart of several BBs seriously damaged in PH.

84th Indian Brigade secures Port Blair.

From my previous games, having Japanese there with bombers is pain in the ass. So, I do preemptive for that. [8D]

Battle of Java has started.

All glory to Dutch naval forces, who have accounted themselves very well during recent month.

Nice job on placing your Dutch forces in position to hit the landings, Not all that many troops eliminated, but no doubt some supply went down. [:)]

I have had it at receiving end in Port Moresby, I think I lost 3 DD and 3 xAK because transport TFs are extremely vulnerable to SCTF raiding.

CL/DD TFs are also very difficult to hit with air power.

I am actually playing more aggressive than usual, in response to way more aggressive AI script I am used to.

One of the AndyMac's scripts, I have not yet before encountered this, and it's pretty interesting.

I am very reluctant to use ADM Halsey in mission like this...Remain on Station...

His Aggressiveness rating 90 makes him unpredictable and he might disobey the orders. Unfortunately my favourite Spruance is already in other TF.
