Allied Impulse #10

Impulses
With nothing to do, most of the Allies pass. The USSR, however, continues its redeployment (USSR combined impulse).

End of Turn
One potential issue with the Allied impulse calls is that it increases the chance of the turn ending. In the event, however, the die roll of 4 ends the turn, but would have ended the turn even if most of the Allies hadn't passed.

Red Army Redeployment
While the Red Army prepares logistical support for large-scale operations in Karelia (HQ railed there), Red Army formations redeploying away from Bessarabia reach cities in preparation for their own redeployments.

Not shown is a FTR unit that rebased to Leningrad.

US Entry
The US draws a marker versus Japan.

Option 4: Intern French CV
The French aircraft carrier Béarn sails to the US to pick up aircraft ordered by France before the outbreak of hostilities. While there, she suffers engine failure and is forced into port, where she and her crew are interned by the US Navy. (Tension roll of 9 means no marker moved to tension pools.)

(Historical Note: WiF basically can't replicate the historical performance of the Béarn in the Second World War, which is to spend most of the war sitting in Martinique.)

Option 9: Resources to China
At the behest of President Roosevelt, Congress authorises the provision of raw materials necessary to China's war effort on terms favourable to China. Japan formally denounces the move. (Tension roll of 1 moves a marker to tension.)

Option 7: Occupy Greenland & Iceland
After the rapid fall of Denmark, fearing German efforts to seize the Danish overseas possessions of Greenland and Iceland, the British Cabinet sends a delegation to the United States to negotiate the American occupation of those territories. The US government agrees, and by the end of October American military and customs officials are stationed there. (No units due to the particular granularity of WiF.) Hitler furiously denounces the agreement as a violation of the principles of neutrality, darkly hinting at malevolent forces at work in London and Washington. (Tension roll of 3 moves a marker to tension.)

This turn's US entry phase turned out quite well for the Allies. The high-value markers in the tension pool are a solid foundation for passing the gear-up options in a reasonable time.

Return to Base

Axis
- The German naval air squadrons patrolling the Baltic in the wake of the French raids return to the North Sea coast.
- Italian merchant shipping supplying the East Africa colony returns to port.
- Japanese troop transports at sea in the South China Sea return to Fukuoka.

Allied Return to Base
- US sealift bringing troops and aircraft to Hawaii return to San Diego.
- Soviet ships in the Black Sea return to Sevastopol
- French cruisers base in Syria, and French troop transports deploy to Morocco to pick up the infantry forces there.

Allied Return to Base
The Royal Navy's Far East fleet is redeployed across the world. Believing that, for the moment, the Japanese are too enmeshed in China to consider an attack on British possessions, the Royal Navy chooses to prioritise protecting the sea lanes in the Atlantic against the threat of German naval action.

In the meantime, a blockade stays in place in the North Sea, while, given aggressive Italian deployments, the Royal Navy also deploys for the possible outbreak of war in the Mediterranean.

Production
You can see the production of each major power at the bottom of the screen capture. The field "Allied Production Increment" is the amount by which the Allies outproduce the Axis each turn. (If that number is negative, the Axis have outproduced the Allies. I think it dips into single digits, but never goes negative, throughout the whole game.)

Peace Phase
Denmark and Poland are completely conquered. The Faeroes islands become controlled by the Commonwealth.

Reinforcements
The picture shows the ND39 production pool after production last turn along with most unit placements. The Polish and Danish units, unsurprisingly, don't appear as reinforcements this turn. (Not sure why the Dakar MIL doesn't appear in the reinforcement pool.)

The reinforcements included placing new planes down using pilots from reserve.

Axis roll 9 + 2 for an initiative of 11.
Allies roll 1.
Axis wins initiative, makes Allies go first. (The Axis want to try to hold onto the +2 die roll modifier for the next two summers.)
