The prudent thing to do would be to evacuate the Allied forces, however I'd really like to see
France stay in the fight a little longer. The German units are looking very tired.

LS has done a bit better than I expected given the situation just before he had to take a break.
Only 2 more turns of good weather (the weather charts do make life easier) so his only chance would seem to be to take Lille with the French army having had too many casualties to want to continue after that.

Chances are we will lose at least one more UK corps, but we've successfully shut down any chance of SeaLion this year.
One corps and one armour will head to Egypt, perhaps more.

I am curious. I see a very lot of Allied units using the Hold (no retreat) option (by the white triangle on the counter) and I have been wondering if it works to hold a position or does it just make the unit shatter more easily when attacked? Does it actually cause greater casualties to the attacker?

Both

No

As an example those units in the remains of the Maginot Line got attacked several times this turn but they still hold out.

Canada builds a division.

The French fleet didn't see much action historically but Churchill was justifiably worried about it falling into the wrong hands.
Pictured is the massive Richelieu.

The French fleet attacks Trieste. A dispersed Italian fleet proves no match for us.

Heavy rain in France mean they hold out for yet another turn. The French fleet
seizes the opportunity.

Except that never happened... when I end my turn I am put in charge of Germany and then the game crashes!

Replaying my turn the result is much better for the Allies.
At least it was a short turn with only a couple of moves, and now the turn correctly uploads.
