Fafnir is the best in the business
So I have gathered reading through the forum!

Mainly by Carrier -> Bombers
You'd need gazillion carriers, no? And every tech maxed?
Also, can't the AI re-recruit destroyed ships? What's the cost-benefit analysis of destroying just 3 battleships?

4 - 6 carriers can do a lot of damage
when units spawn on DoW, their readiness is normally low making them vulnerable
Naval units cannot be reformed
New ships can be purchased at full price and timelines
which is 15 months for battleships and 18 months for carriers

I see. I will try Pearl Harbor next time then. Also, what is the best way to declare war on the USA? Wait till they mobilization nears 100 percent to delay? Or hit them ASAP for an early lead?
On ship recruitment: So if I lose every "named" ship on the recruitment list, I can no longer that ship type, correct? So I currently have 0 battleships on the Italian queue. So if I lose all the remaining battleships, I can no longer recruit battleships for Italy?

So, naming is just a label
When you purchase a unit it suggests a label for it - but you can change it
and at any time during the game you can re-name them
I've not tried but you can probably give them all the same label if you were so inclined
When a unit is destroyed, the label is added back into the suggested queue
This is not true for naval units
(not sure why)
but again you can probably name the new ship at birth or at any time during the game
