Has anyone calculated / estimated the number of turns you need to play per day (roughly) to meet the June 2 deadline for Round 3 of the tournament? Thanks in advance.

As the 1939 Race to Victory campaign ends in 1945, it works out to about 1.5 turns per day, per mirrored game.

I think i just got ghosted in the last round. Opponent did not play or respond in days. Even if he gets back to it some time, it will be hard to finish the game on time now. Sad cause it could have been a great race for first place on the ladder. Other opponents were great and played to the end. Thanks to them! Are other players ghosted in last round too? How is your experience?

Aside from that i greatly enjoyed the experience of the race to victory tournament. I was able to handle two games a time and even played some games aside from this matches. It gave also motivation to play it out to the last turn to gain some points more or hold on to them.

There should be a surrender option or an automatic defeat if you do not at least a turn per week. I'm in the WWI and this tournament and I could only complete one mirror game. Most players tend to do less till no moves once they lost the faith in victory.
I can understand that it may not be fun to loose, so surrender (manual or automatic) would be better than this ghosting.

+1.

And i'm very sorry Fafnir, that i couldn't play enough turns against you to complete our games.

Maybe on next tournament all 3(6) matches could start at day 1. That would give much more time to complete all the games. I think it could be like 8 days to do your turn before automatic disqualification.

So it has finished, very enjoyable, I was abit on lost ground strategicly in the first 2 as that was first timers for me to play the 42 and 43 scenario. Apologies to Jackmc for not finishing our round you had me good. ¤"#%"#¤%¤#"%#¤% bloody weather messed me up when I had the chance as Axis in that game I felt.

Thanks for organising the tournament it was a lot of fun. I feel like more time was needed for the final scenario as my opponent was only able to return one turn a day, perhaps the time limit could be extended in the future?

I enjoyed the tournament. Luckily I had 3 players who all finished their games and played quickly. Three different nationalities! Some brief notes:

1. The progress scores during play sometimes made no sense. T-34s could be rumbling through Berlin but the progress score would still show the Axis ahead.
2. The 1943 scenario is very hard for beginners. You can't rely on instinct and a bit of history. I suggest some serious Hotseat / AI practice before leaping into 1943 in a tournament.
3. As mentioned elsewhere there is a bit of confusion over the comprehensive victory message you receive as Axis. This only gets you 80 points in the tournament if you accept it, which is only slightly higher than a default or a very narrow win.

I had no technical issues over three months of constant play. Well done to the devs.

Thanks for the feedback everyone and thank you for participating in the tournament. [:)] [8D]

We'll try our best to improve as much as we can for the next iteration.

For the difference between a BYE score and Major and Minor victory, this is for the most part purposeful as in some rounds players are not paired with an opponent, if we end up with an odd number of players for the following round (some players are kicked etc) and this way it puts them with a score somewhere in the middle of 80 for a Major victory or 70 for a Minor victory, e.g. it doesn't really benefit them much, but it doesn't hurt their standings much either.

Hubert,

So I missed out on the first tournament. I would like to participate in the next one.

When is the next tournament going to start? I think there is lots of interest, so maybe more slots?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

We are looking into organizing the next one hopefully soon, I'd say to keep an eye out for it in 2-3 weeks time if all goes well.

Will the next tournament involve mirror games of the Race to Victory scenarios, as the last one did?

Very likely that it would due to their design being optimal for tournament play.
