Can someone tell me what these different icons mean and what the different colors indicate?
Blue means unread posts.
Sword looks like pinned topics in a forum.
Two bubbles is normal topic.
Star appears to be popular topics.
I have not found any star-person topics yet.

The reason the Slitherine forum is so much more legible than the new Matrix forum - both at 11px size, is that the Slitherine forum is using a font designed to be viewed at a small size - Verdana.
In this post I go through the reasons in more detail and show what happens when the font is changed back to Verdana:

DasTactic is correct in identifying the root issue. In view of all the many comments about the text size, why not implement this simple fix instead of this "you should use Ctrl-zoom" advice, which is frankly bad. Users should not have to fix poor design.
If users like small text, then they can use Ctrl-mouse wheel zoom to zoom out.
Hear, hear!

Thanks but if that's all correct, the colors are not working properly.
Sometimes they change colors, sometimes they don't after reading the posts.
I do get a little red square that shows up on topics with new posts since my last reading.

The "person" symbol evidently means that you have posted in that thread.
Edit: And, sure enough, I'm now shown as posting in this thread - which I wasn't before.

I think the shape icons are the same as the old forum, where when you were posting a thread you had the opportunity to choose its icon.
Edit: no thats not right either,

Search guidance needed. Specifically how do you search for a phrase say "Fragments on ships"

Thread/images views a are still counted per page refresh. And not per user profile.
For example - if I refresh page 100 times, there will be 100 views instead of 1.

How long until the attachments will be available?
How do I get the moderator rights that I had before in the forums I manage?

Attachments should have all been migrated over by now and should be available in new posts as well. Could you be more specific on what's missing?
Moderator rights were also migrated over. The "MCP" at the top left and the mod tools within a thread (the little hammer button on the bottom left) are the mod tools you should see if you have moderator rights within a forum. The little hammer next to each thread is no longer how to access those (that doesn't exist in the new forum, it's within a thread now).

- Erik

They seem to be missing from all scenario posting on the TOAW board. Here's an example (at least I can't see any attachment):

Just checked and my Private messages Inbox was empty. I like the fact there is an outbox there now but I was holding on to a few (too many) old private messages - will they come back at some point?
Tx

As noted previously, all the following have attachments missing: I haven't gone to check others assuming the same.
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 0&t=379507

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 0&t=379909

As for the moderating, I don't see how to
pin or unpin threads

Not only are you both correct, the Ctrl-Zoom stuff is useless for anyone who doesn't even have a mouse wheel, like many (most?) of us trackball users. Since that includes not only left-handed mouse-haters like me but also many disabled computer users, a real fix would be a much wiser idea.

Starting to get used to and liking this new forum format design. One beef (and others I know here have voiced this complaint privately to me) is the loss of saved mail.
Here's a copy of a message that illustrates this issue:
copy> Its all gone. I am pissed. There was a lot of important stuff from you and others I had stored..mostly mod related discussions, screen shots images, etc.
btw..seems since the new forum came into effect, the forums have grown quiet. I personally can't stand the light blue on grey format, though there are other features that may be superior. [the rest redacted] <end copy.
That's just one out of several texts or messages that got tossed around earlier.
Anyway, like I said before, I am liking this new iteration of the forum. AAR's and screenshot images look great, but I also lost a lot of important PM's saved while working with other mod creators in the Strategic Command ecosystem. We were also sharing by regular e-mail, but none of us realized our saved content on the Matrix Forum was going to disappear when Feb 22-23 came along. Of course, world events also diverted a lot of us I am sure....and this complaint of mine is a small thing I guess.
Edit: It shows that I have 50 messages stored (pre-Matrix Forum upgrade) but no way to retrieve them. Is this an issue I should approach Slitherine support about? Thanks.
cheers.

Something that just occurred to me: In the old forum most of my AAR posts had a .txt file attached. Just the combat report, so a pretty small file. Now .txt are not allowed but .zip are allowed so I just zip it up before attaching it, works great. But what about the old ones?
It looks like the .txt attachments were not ported over. Will they port or are they just being dropped?
Not a huge deal If anybody really wants them I could zip up a batch. Of course that might be hard for older games if anyone is interested in them. Just curious.

Just to be clear, I can't get any links from the main Tigers On The Hunt Scenario & Mods thread to work. I even tried to copy and paste the links into the web address window, but it too returns me back to the same page where all the links are listed.
i can't get any access to all of those links listed there, they just send me back to the main page, so I can't download any files what so ever.
Is this happening because of the new Forums setup or is it something else. I've read in this thread that folks are having issues with files they posted in the past not showing up since the move/upgrade of the Forums. If it is and is a temporary problem then it's no big deal, but it is frustrating not knowing if this is happening to other people or is it just me that's having an issue.
=============================================================
Well it's obviously a problem with the new Forum migration because more and more people from all different games and threads are reporting these kind of issues happening to them too!
