Looking at my installations of 1126b, 1127, and 1128, only 1127 appears to allow naval reinforcements outside of turn 13 when TF1 arrives. 1126b and 1128 naval reinforcements are frozen.

This pic is from a new game after reinstalling it. Turn #3 same scn. It shows one day that never comes ... and so on.

Sometime (I can´t remember when) I received a carrier force listed as Task Force 1 and named KB, so I guessed it was that. Of course they were ... the Shokaku, Zuikaku and Ryujo.

Mmm that's something... So maybe the game is intended only with TF1 as reinforcements :?: Thanks homer82

There is a bug with all three of the Guadalcanal scenario under 1128.4 where the Japaneses ship reinforce routines are not working. There's no such problem with the previous working build 1126b.

I'm looking at the editor to see if there's a quicj fix.

Well that didn't take long.

Run the editor
Load the scenario
Goto Scenarios tab
Set both IJ ans Allied production to 'No'
Save in empty scenario slot.

I do not know how theses setting affect anything else but there should not be a problem as 1126b has them off as do all other small scenarios and production is disabled, or should be, for all small scenarios.

Nice! it seems to work! Thank you a lot Chris21wen.

Still I've a lttle worry, maybe I'm wrong but previously (IIRC) you could send damaged ships back to Tokyo but now I must pile them up somewhere, right?

I know the Allies can send heavily damaged ships off-map to be repaired - you don't get to see them in repair, you just get a return date for the vessel to show up at Noumea. It should work the same with Japan. I can't remember the mechanism to send them away - perhaps the withdraw button or move them to the edge of the map and send them onward?

Yes, works the same for IJ and same for me ... cannot recall the mechanism to trigger it. Maybe return to Tokyo?

Just be aware that unlike allies, if you send a ship for repair as the IJ I can almost guarantee you that the return date is well after the scen end date. The LONG sail back to the HI and the slow repair speed equals months of repair time for anything bigger than a CL.

Thank you Pax. I'm still working out how to send back the ships though... I did peer through the forum (Ship Repair 101 Guide) and the manual but found nothing. Meanwhile I-175 is sitting idle at Truk with 77 points of flood damage, I can't sail it like this, one more hit and it's gone.

Didn't know you would have to reply on off-map bases to repair ships as the allies (for the US at least). Doesn't it mean you would have to send the ship to San Francisco first? And then they would let you click a button to withdrawl them? How does that work?

I usually would just repair them at Sydney or Pearl. To send them back to San Francisco or Tacoma is already a stretch because of the long way and since the ships are already damaged they would be really slow.

This is for a scenario. Only part of the map is utilized.

I do recall +10 years ago when I last played this scenario that repairs were possible, BUT sometime in the interval the designer changed that rule ...

I would consider scuttling the sub to limit the VP's for the allies.

The option for off-map repair in the small scenarios is still mentioned in the manual. (Including the recent updated one) I'm thinking if the feature isn't implemented anymore maybe all mention should be removed to prevent future confusion.

I'd like to clarify there is no bug nor have the rules changed when it comes to repairing ships in small map scenarios.

The abiliity to turn this feature on or off is determined by the setting for 'Score Dmg Ships' on the Scenario tab. To enable ships to return you must set it to 'No'. This obviously prevents ship damage being scored but it is or should? only be used for full map scenarios. It makes no sense in having damaged ships sitting around in a port just waiting to be further damaged when they could be moved out to relative safety.

I have update the Unofficial Editor Manual https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8&t=400077 adding this but please note the flooding issue which is not mentioned in the manual.

'If this is set to Yes in small scenarios (i.e. not full map) then it will also prevent ships from returning to their National Base for repair. Normally off map but it doesn't have to be. E.g. Osaka, Pearl, Sydney, etc. (page 115 main manual).
Note: Currently the rule is wrong as there's no reference to repair of standard flooding, you have to repair it first. Ships with only major flooding can be sent back.'

Chris: Correct. There is no bug here. It is the scenario designers' choice. The Designers' notes (my inserted screenshot) state clearly that off-map repairs are NOT available.
