Better yet: how about tonight? You know, a stealth introduction. Those that check at 2:00 a.m. (EST) get to download with a minimum of hassle and congestion and for everyone else - hey, tomorrow is Christmas morning and look what's under the tree!!!

(except for Marc who always had his nose in his laptop, keeping the place running I guess).

That and taking care of a constant supply of WITP CDs [:D]

The problem is that David keeps me so busy at times that it would be a bad idea to let me demo the games, I couldn“t tell you much except for graphics [;)]

Glad you liked the booth and service.

Yeah, but I didn't get to talk to you about how great the graphics are.

Glad that you kept the supply of WitP CDs coming - at least until I got my four copies.

Right now I think Matrix could make money by selling spots in the download que. Want to be the first? Bidding starts at $10. Want it to automatically start downloading to you when available? Not a problem. $30 gets you a reservation by the window! [;)]

Tiller's game factory smacks of OO development. But some would say, akin to the old argument about SPI, that every game tastes the same. I'm not a fan of his work because I don't like some of his design choices - I think he abstracts too much when he he is producing for a grognard market anyway. But thats a matter of taste. He does pop games out on a regular basis, and I'm sure is very comfortable doing so.

The thing which I never liked about Tillers games, and this includes all the old BG games from Talonsoft, is such a crappy AI. I remember clearing the whole board in BG Waterloo after about my second attempt playing the campaign. I mean HQ units would be in the front line to attack, and other nuances like this. Same with East Front, which seemed to know which hex you were on when it came to AI bombardment (and again AT units would be in front line of attack). I did buy PC Smolensk...and guess what? Bad AI. PBEM is the only way to do these games, really.

I gather he must make a good living from it, but when I see/hear a new release from HPS, just a cursory glance at the screenies tells me 'oh no, more of the same'.

I did play the naval battles 'Guadalcanal', which was just dire.

That my 2pence worth anyway.

AI? In a Tiller game? Not.
