Admiral....
how low are you flying those B-17's to get hits on ships?

Hi, Dadman has always had a large fuzzy rabbits foot. He strokes it while entering his insane commands to his helpless units. For a while it protects them from harm and he does wonderful things. Then the balloon bursts and disaster over takes him. It is sad and painful to watch. Such a turn is coming soon. Film at 11.

I'm only saying because Mogami knows already, but I'm flying at 6000 feet. What I haven't reported are all the misses. B-17's can be useful against cripples and slower moving ships. And they can be over-used as Mogami stated. I've about hit that point with them.

I love when Mogami puts notes in his replay email. It adds about 50 points to my blood pressure before running the replay...
Mogami to DadMan:
"Lex and Enterprise each get a present. Sara comes out of hiding. "
DadMan to Mogami:
"Yeah, thanks for scaring the crap outta me. Nice birthday present - wrecking Lexington and Enterprise. A day early though...
I see something nasty coming toward Saratoga from the NE.... "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japanese Ki-21 Sally Day Air attack on Rangoon. They chew up the runways, but lose about 30 of their number to heavy CAP in doing so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allied SBD Dauntlesses from CV USS
Saratoga Day Air attack on TF, near Talasea at 59,88
AP
Karimo Maru, MSW
Chitose Maru hit and on fire, heavy damage
Dauntlesses were intercepted by A6M2 Zeros, from BII Daitai – that’s
Soryu. Now the question is, where is she? I’m not sure, but she’s close. Perhaps she’s part of the force spotted about 240nm ENE of Rabaul.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Allied B-17 Fortress Day Air attack on TF near Amboina and miss everything.

RETRIBUTION FOR BATTLE BANDA SEA
CVs USS
Lexington and USS
Enterprise strayed too close to Ambonia and got a nasty surprise in the form of an attack by G4M1 Betty 360nm SSW of the enemy airbase. Wildcats on CAP knocked down a few of the attackers, but several managed to get through. A second G4M1 Betty strike was downed before reaching the carriers.
Both ships sustained torpedo hits (the number of which I will not disclose) and are now forced to retire for major repairs. (
DAMN IT!)

thanks for the reply Admiral.
Good luck with the carriers. The air crews might come in handy in that part of the world while the ships repair.

There is an IJN Surface Action TF with 2 BBs and a few CA/CLs about 300nm West of Balikpapan it's been there for 3-4 days now. I've been attacking it with Hudsons, Martin 139s, P-40s etc to no avail. What is he doing? Is he waiting for something? I think I'm about to find out soon.
I did have Force A covering the area but had to pull back for ummmm personal reasons (hee hee hee.) I really could have used some carriers...

Well, I know where CarDiv 5 (Shokaku and Zukaku) is now. I suspect that CarDiv 2 (Soryu and Hiryu ) are operating just north of them as some kind of support force, with CarDiv 5 acting as a Striking Force.

20 Transports screened by 5 Patrol Gunboats were caught docked at Ambonia Harbor.

Hi, I spotted Force K two days before the night attack but could not locate it the following day. The transports were not unloading. They were there for a pick up. Of course the covering TF was delayed. I'll get the mess untangled. Kuching is going to swing the air control in my favor. (My Betty will not be unescorted the next time they find a target)
