Always thought the Truxtun was a mean looking ship compared to the other conventional Belknaps.
That She was!! I think it's because the Belknaps had the armament installed
bas-akwards. I mean, come on, who puts the gun on the ship so you have to show the enemy your stern when shooting at them?! Not to mention that the ROF of the Mk-10's was much slower with the with the angle design vice the straight-through design of the Tommy-T.

pfft. No hurt feelings here. One has to recognize their limitations. In this case I learned that I couldn't outsmart an arrestor gear cable. It was always #3 for some reason.
Of course I DID give it three times to show its superiority. *shrugs*
My jogging partner was the CPO who eventually guided me through AW quals and he has NEVER let me live down those "arrested landings". Every time he said, "OK, 3-wire".
