I am most certainly also enjoying this game. I am very happy I made the decision to start my first PBEM game.. this almost a year a go (September 2014). A game so long will have its ups and down, with long periods of "nothing is happening" followed by bursts of action. In general terms a great experience. I hope you find a good opponent for your Allied game, I think that is the key for having a fun game.

The Allied tanks kept mopping the floor with their Japanese counterpart; and clearly handed a second defeat to the garrison at Vizagapatnam (2nd and 8th Tank regiments).
255th Armored brigade and 50th Tank regiment will keep pushing them all the way to Cuttack; 2E bombers will also start harassing the enemy tanks, now that they lost fort protection.

I-123 was heavily depth charged a couple turns ago, then last turn it was attacked on the surface by multiple APDs, then somehow it managed to survive until this turn, when it got its coup de grace from APD Humpreys.


Next turn I expect some battles in India; I have very little clue on what will be the outcome as recon planes are in high demand...
It might take some days to get the turn as Prester John is on vacations...

I am also surprised it did survived a full day after surface combat.

Check the combat reports of August 19th (2 direct hits) and August 20th (14[X(] hits, mostly with 3 inch guns)
then sliped beneath the waves... to come back the day after.

I used to believe "slip beneath the waves" meant confirmed death... looks like it is not the case

Thanks for pointing this! I didn't realize it was a minelayer.. most likely the one responsible for APD Crosby's sinking

This is the 1st economic chart I am posting; I don't know how good or bad is my economy looking benchmarked against other AARs, but I can say the economy is hardly a concern in my game

- India and Hawaii are healthy
- Australia, NZ and Fiji a bit on the low side on fuel, but not a big concern as things are still very quiet there
- New Caledonia is a concern, but I am fixing it in the next few turns simply by redirected some convoys to Noumea
- China: I have more supply in Tahiti than in China [:(] ........... nuff said

And last chart of the night: Ship upgrades

I am really proud of my upgrade program; as of August 21 only 5 ships are overdue on refits:
- recent arrival DD Bailey, moving from Panama to San Diego
- DM Thracian, on escort mission near Ceylon will convert to DD as soon as it arrives its destination
- SS Perch is on patrol on DEI. The upgrade is minimal (2 XT torpedo tubes), so I will wait until it finishes its mission
- SS Pollack, damaged, should arrive to PH in the next 3 or 4 turns. Will repair and refit.
- xAK Steel Ranger severely damaged many months ago. It is being repaired (slowly) at Pago Pago. It will attempt to move to PH once system damage is zero.

Well...

Embarrasing day for the USAAF and RAF near Vizagaptnam; 20 Tojos IIa literally mopped the floor with the defending 21 P-40es and 7 Hurricanes IIc
Losses were 13 P-40s, 3 Hurricanes for only 1 Tojo... This means that unless I commit my scarce P-38s, I cannot expect very good results. The days of P-40E and P-39s at relatively parity with Japanese Oscars are gone now.
Next month I should start getting P-40Ks, hopefully they will perform better

4 Engine bombers will start night bombing, while most 2E will remain on ground bombing missions
EDIT: night bombing sucked big time... I tried two turns for poor results, then shifted to saturation daytime bombing with much better results (see next posts)

I haven't yet decided if I will assault Calcutta; I might end bypassing it if he puts a strong defense... heavy urban has a defense mutiplier of 4

- The key highlight of August 26th turn was the successfull bombing of Cuttack by 4 engine bombers:
