Turn 186, 4th january 1945

Strange feeling... 1945... it's only the 3rd time I enter this year and my 2 previous games ended early February...

No good news all along the frontline. In the north the rifle corps are methodically crushing my frontline infantry units while tank corps are advancing South of Riga. They are reaching level 0 forts and the odd results are looking ugly.

Image

North of Kiev, my line is heavily weakening.

Image

In South Ukraine my line is still strong but I really don't like such 7/1 result with 3 inf divs stacked

Image

Time to give ground

Maybe FDB will be needed in 1946 for the great german counter attack !!!

Do they at least dig? If not, something should be changed so that in 44 and 45 they are useful for something

Yes I can disband the battallions but it isn't worth, it will inflate my support pool, not my "men" pool

@Steph: The elements shown in the pool afaik are only the armaments, not the manpower. All men from the disbanded batallions will be available for your army to be assigned at will in the next turn.

It is the 4 or 5 times that the head of stavka (like Zhukov 3 times) is removed from command and replaced by an idiot.

I do not know if it is as design but this political point tax is a little annoying.

I never set Zhukov at Stavka and always let him as army commander on the hottest spots.

I do the same with germans. Model, Manstein... are still corps commanders. And if could, I would also have set Guderian as corps commander.

Turn 188, 18th january 1945

After retreating previous week, we try to hold the line.

Russian main effort occurs South of Riga and axis troops are far too weak. Reinforcements are sent and counterattacks launched. I still have 2 full Pzk in the rear in case of neceessity

Image

Slow russian advance west of Minsk

Image

Some defensive fights west of Kiev. We are only facing cav corps as mobile units

Image

In southern Ukraine, russians are far stronger but we still hold Nikolaiev

Outstanding AAR! Congrats to the both of you for making it this far. Keep holding on Stef, you only need a couple more months till the Americans and British reach Berlin :D

Thanks!

As said Stelteck, completing a whole campaign is a very long journey.

It requires 2 reliable players of relatively equivalent skill.

And the website hosting my pictures falled down. 120 turns were lost and I still have more than 70 turns to reload. But I will do it!

I have reread your AAR more than 3 times so far, picked up quite a few things so thanks for posting it ;)
That is true without a doubt, kudos to Stelteck for not giving up! It does seem like this is heading towards an Axis victory but it really doesn't feel like a victory if the Soviets still reach Berlin.
Yeah equivalent skill is quite important to make the game interesting, otherwise one player will get stomped.
Oh damn :/ that sucks big time. What website were you using?
In an unrelated question how do you post more than one pic per post? Really struggling with this in my AAR, so any help would be welcomed. Sorry for hijacking the post.

Keep fighting the good fight!

@Steph: If you have problems with image uploading sites, maybe the following idea is worth a try: Open a thread in the WitE mod area. There you can upload files of up to 9999kb=10mb. You can then include the images in the main AAR thread the same way (I hope&expect) as you now do with the sites from the hoster.

Image hosting can be very annoying, I lost 4 (short) AARs on a German forum (si-games.com) as well because the image hoster changed something. I recall the same happened to m60.

Si if I make an AAR on a matrix game title in the future, I will attempt to store the images on the matrix page, after all, the forum seems to be stable for many years (15+?) now.

@xhoel: On the window to edit posts, you can find the "image" button, it will create a tag, copy the link of the image you want to include between the brackets. Maybe "embed picture in post" must be turned on.

I'm now using IMGUR, it's easy.

To post more than one pic per post:

text text text text....

Copy picture then paste
