**************Darwin/Katherine Link-up************

All the B-17's at Merauke and perhaps half the B-24's at Alice can now soften up the LYB's at Katherine. When Darwin airfield is rebuilt, some of the heavies can move there.

I will send the armor, the USMC combat engineers the arty and proably 2 regiments of Marines South. Aus I Corps can rest and refit and start prepping for your Sumatra thingy.

Probably we should sent something to cut off the track to Wyndham.

Even though a few units at Katherine are in the red, the supplies are very close to meeting needs and I think we could try an attack after a couple of days of bombing. On the other hand, we could wait for help from the North.

If I were JJ, I think I would try to get the best units out of Katherine and leave a rear guard, hoping the retreating units from Darwin can get out over the desert. They are really in a bad spot trying to hold Katherine.

As you hit those units retreating from Darwin they will attempt to draw supplies, in case Katherine has any. Making them retreat continuously would be best and give your attacking units more and more experience.

Yes you can. The Junior Rates are limited to 3 tins a day. On Resolution we had a bar with a pump and a spirits bar. Strict bar hours were supposed to be kept but we agreed to keep the spirits bar locked at sea in exchange for a 24 hour bear bar.

(Nods sagely) Yes, I have heard some navies put everyone through a surface cruise first in hopes that afterwards the sub boys will remember that not ALL surface ships are hostile.

From the stories, I don't believe it works.
