over 4000 assault points landed already and 800 more to come. What pretty much p*sses me off at the moment is how the game disperses the unloaded supplies between my units. I have divs with over 17.000 supplies and my tank divs for example don´t even have 50% of their needed supply. God damn game features... this can become a serious problem. I have unloaded over 100.000 supplies already and it´s not that easy to bring in another 100.000 within a week. Not that easy, well it´s impossible for me...

Sunfish seems to be on transit West, this is one hex NE of Kwajalein. The torps missed, 4x4 inch shells do moderate damage but the small AK will live on... looks like the enemy subs have completed their radar upgrade as more and more of them are spotted already again... we had a long phase without any subs in the SRA at all and only a couple of S-class subs around Australia...

but the second bombardment was a nuke, at least when we look at the ground losses. The port was hit hard also but P L E A S E, can´t we knock out the airfield? This is the only reason for those bombardments, but the game engine is too dumb to know that... my ships (especially the heavy cruisers) are accumulating sys damage so quickly that they can´t be used for long anymore. Many of them went through 10 sys points already, slowing them down to 5 hexes per phase. Hopefully we will take Darwin soon as this then would mean that we don´t need those bombardments all the time...

I have ordered my troops (except the two divs that are landing at the moment) to execute the first deliberate attack. Most of my troops have more supply they will ever need, one of my tank divs is only 90% supplied though, even though that we have nearly 100 AKs unloading. But the supply isn´t equally dispersed between all my units... it´s a shame...

Gentlemen, the current situation really looks good and the Japanese high command is confident to defeat the Allied agressors once again!

They were only around 80/100 when loaded onto the ships, after being unloaded at Darwin they are now down to around 60/100. now this time the big boys really scored... there´s one thing I was alos really afraid all the time: British Barracuda torp bombers. Those could have sunk more than one BB so far if Miller would have employed those bombers. here we go! This result clearly shows that Darwin won´t be able to hold for a long time. With over 4.000 Allied casualties, two inf and a tank unit in the lead of the Allied troop stack, I´m sure that those three units are wrecked now. Leaves the 2nd USMC division as only combat effective unit. There´s no doubt that we will take the base and IMO, Miller should NOW order his troops to retreat. Everything else would be the wrong decision. The immense number of Allied casualties is a result of my mass employment of armor. This attack surely has cost the Allied a couple of hundred assault points. I expect the base to fall within the next three attacks. BANZAI!

my reinforcements arrived at Chengtu and as soon as my troops were fully supplied (which wasn´t easy over the trails) I´ve ordered a shock attack that easily took the base today. The only downside was the fact that the enemy was able to retreat into the woods instead of being forced to surrender as expected. Nevertheless, my offensive actions in China saw a succesful end today. The troops left in China (some 7000 assault points) act as garisson units and as blocking force at Chungking and Kweiyang where the Allied have massed some 500.000 troops. As those bases seem to be very low on supply, I don´t see the Chinese as a threat anymore! With only some 1.000 supplies a day I guess this won´t ever change again. BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

as you can see, there´s not much left that can do a bombardment... [8D]

We´ve got quite an impressing number of vehicles here... taking up the thought about helping Adolf with some action against the Russian bear, I´ve forgot to say that I´m not only wanting to have most of the IJAAF in Manchuko but also all those tank units, as they are perfectly suited to wreck havoc in the clear terrain around the Northern Russian bases, just like in the clear terrain of Northern Australia! [:D]


With every turn going by, it seems it becomes more and more sure that we will at least cause a lot of trouble in Northern Australia, if not taking it completely. IMO Miller has again made the mistake not to send in the kitchen sink against this mega invasion. Mega invasion because it´s huge, even if the Allied would do it in 44 as it involves nearly the whole IJN (at least every major combatant) and most of the merchant navy as well. Not to talk about the fact that we have something like 7.500 assault points ready to rumble in this area and the 1.500 aircraft supporting this operation. While it was a gamble at the beginning, the goal to get ashore more or less unharmed has been achieved already. We have seen only O N E day with limited Allied air attacks that cost us perhaps half a dozen ships sunk and another dozen damaged (all merchants). Two or three subs are operating in the area, accounting for another 2 or 3 ships sunk. And that´s it!

Miller once told me that an invasion of Lautern would be suicide for my Navy because he could employ 600-800 bombers against that invasion but now (it seems) I´m succesfully invading Northern Australia directly and while I´ve been fearing his bombers, he didn´t employ them. And he´s now running into a disaster if I would be able to knock out the Northern Australian bases and cut off Lautern with the 22 units (including half a dozen inf divisions) there.

Miller unfortunately had to leave for work now, so there won´t be any turn until tomorrow. He told me I should sweet up my GF for an all day WITP session tomorrow... [;)]

I have been really afraid of Darwin´s CD unit and that´s why my troops originally started planning for Broome. They started their plannings when they were shipped from India to Soerabaja, most of them for Broome, the rest for Derby. With the propaganda in my emails and the fact that I´ve thought Miller would never think I could invade Australia at this date I hoped to land at Broome and take the base quickly (comparable to what many players do early in the game). But I guess that he just got too much intel about my divisions prepping for Broome and I noticed more and more of his units marching from the East to the West, with most of them going to Broome. Well, this forced me to go to Darwin and as it stands now it´s going quite nice.

CD counterfire is mostly an all or nothing thing in WITP. I have seen those 9 and 6 inch CD guns killing off whole invasions with dozens of ships being sunk but with heavy naval bombardements you mostly see no fire from the CD units at all. Thank god in this case we knocked the unit out, otherwise this could have been total defeat for me on day two or three already.

thanks. Yeah, the next days will definetely be interesting but despite some ground action I doubt that we will see much happening. The most interesting days are probably over already as Miller normally doesn´t do much to counter my ground moves. Perhaps we will see some of his bombers flying ground attacks as soon as we break out of Darwin (no doubt we will take the base) and perhaps a nav attack now and then.

At the moment there are only aircraft at Broome and Derby left, mostly fighters and transports it seems. With only those two bases full of aircraft this means the total number of ac is already half of what it has been the last couple of months in Northern Australia.

What I don´t understand is why his Navy didn´t even left port. I guess the majority of the USN is at Brisbane at the moment, there should be the whole Royal Navy too. Also Perth shows a dark port symbol but I guess this is where most of the Royal Navy merchants have gone when India was lost. Don´t know what they are doing there though. I have a lot of patrols on the Southern tip of New Guinea and if the enemy carriers would have gone North I surely would have spot them and believe me, this would definetely have made me nervous to some extend. But what did Miller do? Nothing. One day he flew airstrikes and that´s it. He has been just too passive again IMO.

at the end of the day, all my invasion TFs will finally have unloaded. Only supplies are being unloaded in the next two or three days... We will have unloaded roughly 150.000 supplies for our troops in this invasion. Support troops and a couple of bgd/div are waiting offshore to be unloaded when the port will be ours. There are another 100.000 supplies with those troops, I haven´t made the mistake twice not to bring enough supplies with the first wave like in India when I had to find out that 100.000 supplies are not enough for 3.500 assault points to fight a ground war for more than two weeks.

have ordered my troops to deliberate attack tomorrow! All are well supplied and disruption is VERY low. One div and a bgd were kept on defensive mode though, those two units are below 70/100 and I´ve thought the rest of the troops can do the job alone. With the great result of our first attack, I expect to achiev something like a 3 or 4:1 already. Everything lower would be a very lucky die roll for Miller I guess. If we inflict a lot of casualties again then I can think about a shock attack in a couple of days. Our tank units will then finish off the retreating enemy troops.

yes that´s correct, but then I´m missing the point of the implementation of the political points system. At the moment I don´t have trashed divs of restricted commands anyway. The only way to get trashed divisions again would be to attack the Russian at this point as there´s nothing else left. Well I could also order my troops at Chungking to do a suicide attack, but again it´s just not what I want to do.

as expected, we achieved a 3:1, close to 4:1 today. The question now is, doing another deliberate attack in two days or already a shock attack? The saver way would probably be to do another deliberate attack as we would have to achieve a 7:1 at least with the shock attack (if the combat eng take down a fort, otherwise we would need a 8:1). When looking at the remaining troops, I guess it won´t be possible to achieve a 8:1, so there will be another deliberate attack in two days... the shock attack will be ordered in four days and then I expect Darwin to fall...

as you can see, the coming days aren´t that interesting anymore as action has nearly gone to 0 again... we´re doing training runs, Miller is doing training runs. Our ships return from Darwin into safe regions again and there´s no sign of an Allied reaction other than the troop movements 700-1000 miles West of Darwin. Wonder if Miller decides to march a couple of divisions up North coming from Brisbane or so. He could march 6-12 divs up (if he has received reinforcements and brings the troops that took New Caledonia and the Fidjis) if he puts together a formidable force. Their problem will be the fact that it´s a long way and if I´m in Wyndham by that time then they won´t get much supplies due to the distance to their next supplying base. And we could supply our troops from the sea, but that would put our ships in range of enemy LBA again. In any case, he would meet a force that could put nearly 8.000 assault points into one spot, equivalent to nearly 20+ IJA inf divisions! [:D] So the only thing he could hope for would be to stalemate me - which would be a success already as the only goal I can have is to secure all four bases in Northern Australia and to cut off Lautern. To destroy the troops in both places would be a nice bonus. Not securing all four bases in Northern Australia would mean mission unaccomplished.

Maybe he thought it would be unwise to pass through the Torres Straits with your Betty daitais so close, and KB in the vicinity. If I remember correctly, you sank several of his CVs, so he should still be in inferiority for the moment.




Or perhaps he has a big invasion planned in the Pacific, and he's preparing to launch it while he knows you can't do anything against it.[;)]

i must say i find it very impressive chris. not only mounting such a large scale attack as the japanese in 1943, but to manage all the logistic and to bring such a huge number of troops and supply to australia few months after a large invasion in india!

and one thing more: you realy could be a briton because of your typical "british understatement" of your abilities and possibilities as the japanese.[:D]

I´ve sunk only two of his CVs so far. 5 more were heavily damaged though. Due to pure luck on his side 300 Betties weren´t able to sink four of his British CVs in port. As he has showed near New Caledonia he can field a formidable CV force with over 200 fighters on Cap, so he could have brought them. Even if it would just be to make me nervous. With all the LBA and a big carrier force (not to talk about all the surface forces) it was a MUST for him to attack. He didn´t, we will see if he pays for it.
