The CW put two fighters into the 1-box - and now I need to be away for about 90 mins.....

...and this is one of the reasons why I mentioned in the PBEM thread about why its so vital to get a PBEM system working long term [:(]

Hot on the heels of destroying an Italian sub, I've just thrown a 1 on the next round of naval combat. The thought that this may not be a genuine throw just sucks the fun out of what should be a massive relief that something is going right.....

I increase my AtA combat value x 2 and decrease my opponent's x 2 to use up my surprise points.

Allies throw first.

8 (AA) The German fighter is aborted.
16 (DA) ****** Hell! I saw 16 come up and thought "I've just lost a piggin' Spitfire on -4!!!" Fortunately it is only an abort. The Spitfire returns to Blighty.

The Soviets seek to ground strike a German armoured formation north of Odessa. The Germans can intercept with a 4-strength Zerstorer. Do they fly?

It would have been lots more fun to nail that Sunderland. [:D]

But it was never even close.

The Axis throw first:

8 (DA) The Soviet bomber get no chance to disrupt the German armour and aborts.
2 (AX) But in response the Soviets catch a break and destroys the heavy fighter (pilot survives).

The British attack on Lisbon is automatic thanks to shore bombardment from the 15 and 16-inch guns of Royal Oak, Royal Sovereign and Rodney. Sadly both naval units escape - where do you want them to go?

Edit: As far as I can tell I can get them to Luanda in Angola - I thought they would have been subject to interception in the Cape Verde Basin but maybe the weather precludes that?

I think that the SCS can reach Mozambique so it will try to reach the capital there.

The CP go for Saint Thomas in São Tomé and Príncipe.

They abort separately.

Luanda is fine if you aborted them together. [:)]

Checking on the rule it seems to me that both of them actually could have reached Mozambique. Their three range gets doubled to 6 when they are overrun so they need to find a base within five sea areas since the last point is needed to enter the port. Mozambique is 5 sea areas away. I thought that the CP could not reach because of the movement allowance penalty due to the presence of enemy ships on the route but it appears that movement allowance should be ignored when making a overrun rebase.

No declarations of war.

Japan and Germane take land while Italy take combined.

No Port Strikes. No naval air.

Italy transport a infantry corps from La Spezia to Alexandria.

No strategic bombing.

Japan bombard Vladivostok for effect.
