That was one devastating raid; if the IJN had accomplished all that in the real life attack the USN would have been much worse off than they really were.  They even torpedoed a PT boat!  Fortunately the AE's that were hit must have been unloaded, or the collateral damage would have been spectacular...

That was one devastating raid; if the IJN had accomplished all that in the real life attack the USN would have been much worse off than they really were.  They even torpedoed a PT boat!  Fortunately the AE's that were hit must have been unloaded, or the collateral damage would have been spectacular...

Not only that, but they got 75% accuracy with the number of hits, or they had a lot more than 48 special torpedoes. Add to the Pennsylvania got hit in the dry dock (special jumping torpedoes called the flying fish, I guess, or I didn't get the message that they had cruise missiles at Pearl....

I just hope that the equally probable chance that the IJN doesn't launch a single torpedo is present. I have had that happen at least three times in more than a dozen 07Dec41 starts just to see what happened.. Wouldn't that be a kick in the keister for someone playing the IJN.. All they did was let the air out of the top of those old ladies, and none of the water in the bottom.

Actually, according to the list at the end of the report, only 42 planes carried torpedoes, so they got an 88% hit rate.  That's pretty good shooting...

But they are shooting at ships that aren't moving at all.

During the real attack they scored around 50% or slightly less at ships that weren't moving at all.


While we're at it, does anybody know how many of the 800kg bombs hit IRL? They seem to have been very innacurate. I know 2 hit Maryland and bounced, one hit Arizona and didn't, and one I think hit West Virginia, out of 50?

Isn't the info above a bit much intel for the Japanese? How much of this are they going to know given an air attack?

Actually I got off light on this run. Only lost 2 BBs a PT and a coastal minesweeper total on the map (lost 306 airplanes however). None of the ships remaining are close to sinking. Ive seen it far worse. Repulse took 1 torp and PoW took 3 (shes hurt but not in immediate danger).

Jap recon would tell what the CAP patrol altitude is. Signal intel would keep track of units. I see nothing wrong with this. But then, whos to say how much of this info is in there for de-bugging purposes and will be taken out of the final? I have no idea.

Edit: Not to mention FoW. I have seen 1 run where it was "reported" that the Colorado was sunk at Pearl on Dec 7! I mean look at guns above: Guns lost 5 (0 destroyed, 7 disabled) - there is FoW going on.

Yeah, assuming FOW is on, then this is great. VERY likely that about 88% of returning pilots would report hits (considering the chaos of the day), and this explains the 'hits' on the drydocked BBs as well.
 
Would be interesting to see the same combat report from the Allied perspective though.
