the whole IJN goes in to do bombardments again... the number of bombardments I´ve done in the last weeks is insane. And my ships are in pretty bad shape already... nice number of ground losses but the usual low number of airfield hits...

the two BB TFs will head down to Darwin. There´s only 6000 tons of fuel but the ships are nearly topped off anyway so they will replenish their ammo and hold position there. I just want some heavy naval assets in the area as long as we bring in TFs full of troops. Two divs, eng rgts, base forces, etc. are being moved in in the next couple of days...

OMG! Yesterday there were nearly 60 bombers shot down with another 160 or so damaged, today we see a 378 bomber strike. Adding the 12 Lightnings and the 4 Catalinas we see 394 aircraft coming in from Wyndham, a level 8 airfield. [X(] I expected to see something like 200 bombers max today but obviously Miller must have swapped out a couple of squadrons with the damaged bomber moved out via rail or he really overstacked the airfield (and I seriously doubt that as we have the stacking hr and I trust him not to break it).
Anyway, our Cap levels were pathetic so to say (when thinking about the total number of fighters here). We were far below 50% again, Cap levels were set to 90%, 15.000ft. Morale wasn´t really a factor for the Allied agressors, most of the escorts turned back though. In total we have seen perhaps 70 bomber turn back but more than 200 dropped their bombs, this times from 10.000ft and not 6.000ft like yesterday. I proved to be stupid though as I moved out most of my AA units by accident. My fighters didn´t even do bad but we can´t stop such a strike. In the end my fighter force is hit hard but so are the bombers. We take advantage of the fact that Miller still [X(] uses his obsolete Blenheim bombers. They are easier to down then the Lightnings. The 4Es are of course nearly not to down at all when coming in mixed with other types. Note that there are also British Liberators in this attack already. But Miller can´t have enough Wellington and Libs at all as otherwise he wouldn´t use those useless Blenheims. I wouldn´t use them, doesn´t make sense, either use US Mitchells or Marauders but not British Blens. Not using them in this attack would surely have meant to lose 15-20 bomber less.
At the end of the turn the airfield is 73% and the base 88% damaged. Yesterday it was 70%/55% and my fighters took off. So I guess the field will be operational also tomorrow and we have crated a lot of Tojo sentais onto AKs that were at Darwin, leaving for Amboina. The empty field was filled with some Tojos (don´t have many operational sentais left... [:(]), more than 100 Zeroes, a sentai Oscar II (that can´t do much against the bomber with a gun value of 4 [8|]) and KB will take position two hexes off Darwin to fly LRCAP with A6M3a. In total I hope to see more than 200 fighters in the air tomorrow. Using KB´s daitais to fly LRCAP is a big risk though as Miller could have yet again super timing and set his bombers to nav attack tomorrow. Today, my TFs around Darwin weren´t spotted as there aren´t a lot of Allied patrols around in this area anymore but who knows. It will be risky tomorrow. With the damage done to the Allied bomber fleet today I hope to turn them back tomorrow - if they decide to attack again. We have over 600 eng at the base, more to come. Darwin is a level 8 airfield so it´s hard to knock out but once it is heavily damaged it also takes a long time to being repaired again. The only reason I´m even defending it against air attacks is the fact that I have to cap my TFs when unloading at the base. If my defenses will collapse tomorrow then we will have to withdraw my TFs out of LBA range.
The only good thing in this situation at the moment is the fact that Darwin is 7 hexes from Wyndham. This means that there won´t be "short" legged (5 hexes) Allied escorts and the medium bombers will drop "only" their reduced load. We´re in perfect striking range of the 4E monsters though.

I´m amazed to see this airfiled attack. Even when there are only small numbers of unescorted bombers they still achieve nearly a 1:1 kill rate...

this is at Karachi! What can that mean? Guess there´s only one reason to order all those aircraft to fly a ground attack... they paid for it though as there are three flak units...
Tojo losses are getting severe...

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!
as you can see there´s not much left of the 10 Allied units. We end up one hex further South and are now at the crossroads South of Darwin. The 2nd USMC division vanished today! [X(] Recon tells us about 10 units in the same hex with our tanks but only very few guns and vehicles. So if the 2nd USMC div is now in this hex also, there should be more guns... and more troops. This also would mean one unit was destroyed today, didn´t get any info on that though. Tried to give a recon chutai order to recon the rail to the West and South but within four hexes there´s no Allied unit. [&:] If the 2nd USMC div isn´t in the same hex tomorrow then it moved 4 or 5 hexes today which isn´t possible. Or it just vanished, which I doubt also. Hmmm... Of course it could also move out of the hex tomorrow again, just before we attack again - then we should be in the same hex in two days again... The enemy US Army div coming from the South is moving quite fast also, we should soon clash with this unit. If he really moves it in, then we will kill it off, would be a rather pityful move.

that´s why Miller ordered his fighter bombers to fly a ground attack today. One of my divs is 80% disrupted so without those ground attacks we would have had a far higher adjusted av. Nevertheless it looks like we´re in a safe position here, the losses we took were mostly within our two leading AA units. I have a reserve div at Malir one hex SE of Karachi. The Allied troops here are not strong enough to dislodge us but we will have to do something to further secure our position in India. Problem is that this will take something like 7000 assault points to really be "strong" and make an Allied amphibious attempt a blood bath. Needless to say I don´t have 7000 av in India at the moment. Guess there are 3.500 there. We need more some more base forces and something 10 inf divs/bgds more to garisson the coastal bases and have reaction forces on hand. This is of course not possible at the moment. It would be possible if we could knock out the Russian. A possible attack on Russia can not happen within the next three months (this is what I estimate the time to finish off the Northern Australian bases - or when I will know that I have failed to do so). Finishing Russia would take another 6 months, marching from there to India another 3 months so we wouldn´t have "enough" troops in India before early 44. [:D] And all this is everything goes well...
