2 Aug 1943 Our Aircrew are drunk...

Despite being perfectly positioned, and plenty of targets our CV crews barely fly. The CV's aren't overloaded... don't know what happened Our land based air also largely gets scoked in, but more do fly.

Logistics wise we are starting to get real concerned about our HI pools, they are only 800k... so we need to start cutting down production and using more pilots to reduce the cost of the pilots in the pools! A bit counter-intuitive... as we have done well we have an over supply of pilots which is costing us a lot to maintain (must be the 5 Star hotels they need).

Yuck. Well, you did identify a surface intercept as your biggest risk. Cold comfort now.

Still, while normally the IJN can't absorb exchanges, this one probably favored you. Remember how late it is. If Essex went down along with everything else, the enemy will be close to '44 before he can even start to nibble at the Empire again. By then it may be too late.

Yes considering it is August 43 we aren't doing to bad, although evicting him off the islands will be tough with a lot of our surface fleet damaged..

Here are the plans for this turn, we are sending in two SCTF, one is the escorts that KB had (and Mini KB before it rushed off) the other is a Fast BB and a couple of CA coming in from the other direction. thes arethe two solid red lines. KB will move back but still in range, and we will try to get our LBA off the ground. This is the dashed line

Have flown in some fighters and Judy to Port blair so they can have a go too... the service is trashed byut runway is under 20 and should be gone altogether by the time the planes fly...

Our landing forces will move up and combine with a covering force and prepare to land next turn at Trinkat, the level 1 airfield.

He was smart to just have DDs with his BBs. Add in those DDs were the Porter Class and it was a good SC TF. I don't see any of the newer Fletcher DDs in the mix, so count your blessings there.[;)]

You just don't have enough CAs to go everywhere they are needed.

4 Aug 1943

Of our cunning plans the SCTF sail right through the hex where his battle fleet were last turn, they had moved into Little Andaman, and escape out the other side.

Our air attacks from Port Blair hit nothing, and he bombs the place in return, although we are able to pull out undamaged aircraft.

Our sweep and bombing in Buram does OK, but we don't get the target we are after, the P-47's.

Our invasion force is now linked up with moderate SCTF 5 hex from Trinkat ready to land next turn.

We are concerned he will send in the two BB TF at Little Andaman Is to Trinkat. So we will pull back three hex for a turn, then come back in. Another day of unloading and we will have plenty of force to take the island.

Our CV forces are moving to Sabang to rearm and refuel from the support ships that are there. He may take that opportunity to flee... not a lot we can do.

Lots of aircraft on ASW ops... nasty nasty subs!

In Japan we have just bought out a half strength div, the 46th, which is preping for Litle Andaman. By the time it gets to Singapore a rebuilds a bit it should be nicely prepared for the next landing.

We have a recently arrived CVE Shinyo waiting for the CV Unryo to arrive in 2 days. It is collecting a small fleet including a BB damaged earlier which is 1 day away from full repair, a CA and about 6 DD's. The CV Amagi is 33 days away.

We start preping for Little Andaman. We will form 3 Bombardment TF that will operate from the Malaya coast to close the place while we pull back the ground troops and reequip and reorganise our much depleated carrier forces. A fresh Div will soon leave Japan to give use three for the assault. It should arive in Singapore in 10 days, and the attack will go in 4-5 days later.

HI is building nicely at 5k a turn. We are stopping many of the smaller resource convoys and starting to rationalise ships at sea to save fuel.

Some recent arrivals of TK convoys has boosted fuel in the HI to 43 days of supply. Oil is still droping though, we are oving all that is available. Supply has jumped dramatically to almost 800k!

We have a large excess of Tk's compared to available fuel to move.

We do have about 500k of fuel set aside in the East DEI, Philipines, SWPAC for potential fleet operations. Now we are focussed on moving the fuel in the DEI home as quickly as it is made.

He keeps landing at Wake Is, then a lone CL makes it through the screen, probably because everything was shooting at the gallant defenders of Wake.

In the Indian Ocean an enemy CA Tf at Little Andaman makes our bombardment forces react away out of contact... the Netties find them the next morning.

We are moving around trying to find an area of useful tactical advantage.



We are going to cease the sea bombardments of Little Andaman. The mine threat is too great and we should be able to keep it closed using our air until the forces are ready to invade. That is about 7-10 days from now... maybe a bit longer depending on the risk we want to take.

I think in my next game as Japan I will not upgrade all my DMS to E Class. Thankfully, some will go back to DMS in Jan '44, but I could use them now.
