We lost 1 Cruiser and 3 Destroyers off India...at least we got some bombers.

Still thinking things look ok in China for now...
British AT guns showing up in Chengtu…
Indian Mountain guns near Tienshui…
Are IJA troops heading south west into the nasty terrain by Sian?

4Es at 2,000 feet would do wonders for those Japanese tanks. [:'(]

Those losses...[&o]
Could he really hope for an auto-victory when sustaining such heavy losses, both in the air and on the sea ? And invading both Australia (both coasts) and India ?

The major issue with auto-victory is that if you don't achieve it, or take heavy losses, is that it just accelerates Japanese collapse
And to do it against an experienced player?
Not easy at all

Regarding Mindanao, I have had good experience with defending at Malaybalay(its MT hex), surrendered only in December 42.

Babeldaob starts the game with lots of fuel and supply, IIRC. I would expect that TK/AK TF to be headed directly to Rabaul.

Bundaberg situation!
Why would that unit have to enter Bundaberg from another direction? From outside the target hex with no enemy in your hex, you can go through any side you want (terrain permitting).

I believe that "these guys have to take the long way to Maryborough" was intended

Ok, that makes sense. Looks like IJ units are leaving Bundaberg for Maryborough - might leave the former weak enough to retake ...

Precisely. Pressing on, when already sustaining such losses, would be a folly if the AV wasn’t even possible anymore. It could lead to an AV in ‘44, but on the other side...

I don’t know the mod’s map changes, but from the screen I get that only the railway heads straight to Bundaberg, while the major road makes a detour through the countryside.

Ah, you are correct - I used the R key on my map and the major road comes into Bundaberg from the southeast but goes west one hex before going northeast. I always thought the railway was just masking the road heading NW from Bundaberg but there appears to be none.

Yes, the road to Bundaberg skirts to the west of the hex, while the rail line heads in.
I have over 700 AV in the area looking to retake Bundaberg, 400+ from the north, and 300+ from the south. I am not sure I can do it however, depending upon akes for IJN rearming.
I have switched my overall defensive philosophy for the game and I am pretty much now challenging almost all forward thrusts of the IJ...I think he is so spread out there is a chance to stop him, or at least delay him greatly.
More AA is unloading just south of Sydney...with lots more on the way. In less than 2 weeks or so, two Marine Regts, 1 Commonwealth Rgt, and lots of AA will arrive along with more fighters and bombers and base forces and even American Tanks in Oz.

A continent-sized Guadalcanal - very interested in how that plays out! Will both sides exhaust their Navies? Will the Japanese gradually but inevitably lose their air supremacy? Will arrogant Col. Ichiki get skewered on ready forts? The world wonders ...

With the open terrain unit coordination would be easier...

With the open terrain, artillery and LCU bombing will be more effective too. There are also more possibilities to build airfields. Navies are less crucial to supply the front lines, supply convoys may arrive further from the combat zones and rely on RR to push forward (but the Allies will have better ports down south with Sydney/Melbourne/Adelaide than the IJ further north with only Townsville, and avoiding the Netty threat is good).
I would guess overall, it favors the Allies. Japan can’t afford to push too far either, else they’d trigger the invasion reinforcements, so it’d be harder to kill whole stacks, unless caution is cast away.
