<15 beautiful new F4U-1 Corsair are arrayed on the tarmac>
Maj. Torrey, CO, VNF-441: I love 'em. A testy beast but I love 'em. Your boss is a good man. He drives a hard bargain but he can deliver.
Hirsute man in civies: Yes sir, a real SOB
Maj. Torrey, CO, VNF-441: That's good. An SOB but a good man. That about sums it up. <he continues to admre the plane>
Crew Boss: <down one one knee examing the underside of the fuselage> Major, you're gonna wanna see this. I don't see a damn tail hook.
Maj. Torrey, CO, VNF-441: ARE YOU SHITTING ME? <walks quickly to confirm the finding> GODDAMNIT! <he turns qucikly. He and the crew chief are now alone> WHERE THE HELL DID THAT DAMN M&M SALESMAN GO?

Does it do any good to bring the oil from Boela to Oz or will we just have to bring in supplies to refine it?
If so, where do we take it? Pretend we didn't read the manual.

Good catch CB. Were you an auditor in your previous life??
As for the blocker thingy CM mentions, I think it appropriate to call it a "poo-up blocker" since its job is to limit the **** that most sites send you.

I'd ship it Townsville, I imagine it should flow from there. If you have the spare tankers I'd say ship it directly to any Aussie ports with refineries to ensure that the oil gets there.

Yes...sometimes.
Even though I knew from previous reading that the first Corsairs went to the Marines and were not used aboard carriers, I, like Maj Torrey, felt some buyer's remorse to discover they were not carrier capable.

Short of looking it up I am going to guess that would be Sydney. We can use those leftover, crappy, short-haul Dutch tankers.

**********Aboard USS Juneau, flagship of TF 179, 132nd Inf Regt embarked, 220 mi E of Norfolk Is********
Adm Hazard*: <with glasses> Where the hell is Kinkaid with our escort? He was supposed to be here hours ago.
* This is a really funny name for an admiral, if you ask me.

************Aboard USS Sangamon, Coral Sea, Jan 24 (or maybe 23), 1943(c)*************
Ship's Captain: Admiral, weren't we supposed rendezvous with TF 179 at 08:00 on the 24th?
Adm. Kinkaid: Why it's the dateline, Captain. I'm surprised at you.
Ship's Captain: But sir, we shouldn't be anywhere near the dateline.
Adm. Kinkaid: Sure, here it is on my chart just east of Townsville.
Ship's Captain: <looks at chart then grows ashen-faced> Sir, this is an M&M Enterprises map.
Adm. Kinkaid: <his face turns white in realization and he is unable to speak for several seconds> Holy crap! I am so ******. Don't tell anyone, OK?

Something like this actually did happen to Kinkaid. He showed up a day late with the Enterprise TF to a rendezvous near Fiji because he had a chart with the dateline in the wrong place. [:D][:D][:D]
I bet he had to toss his BVD's out of the porthole in the Admiral's cabin. It was a potential career-ending mistake. Amazingly, nobody told Pye or Nimitz. [:D] Alas, the historical recotrd does not indicate who the cartographer was.

This is why the AI never picks Kinkaid to head Air Combat taffys. [:D]

I just got a letter from Mitt Romney. Maybe he wants me to take over Bain Capital. He probably heard about my theory of the operability of my ice-maker to predict stock market trends. By ra way, it's not working now so this is bearish. I would move into Phillipino gold or maybe copra futures.*

I think the Admiral would call him "chum" if ever they met. [:@]

Oh - nice! Kinkaid covers it up so that other admirals can make the same mistake![:-]
BTW, is that chart still in use in the USN??[X(]
Probably not - with GPS and Google Earth no one looks at a chart anymore ....

Could be, the sub I was on hit the island of St. Croix at greater than 400' and moving about 20 knots. I was practically court marshaled for offering the observation that Christopher Columbus found the island and the navy lost it.

I knew that there were a reason we sold u it. Hadnt thot of the USN losing it. I was thinking more in the lines of another of our colonies melting. Causing a rise in sea levels out dating any known charts along with making St Croix a reef.
