That's irrefutable historical fact. 11 of them were used for training purposes by MLD (Royal Netherlands East Indies Naval Air Force) squadrons GVT-12 and -14.
Did they see active service - ie. as a combat (patrol) aircraft? Or only in training? Actually, dont worry - i can check it out - you have more important things to do!! (like finishing this game!)
The plane tops are made by TheElf, so they're of fantastic quality, and generally to scale.
Excellent. Any chance of some screenshots???
Thanks.

Hi all in the edit for AE will we be able ad differant payloads/bomb types to a given AC, say the Kate because it carried a Torp/800kg/500kg/250kg or even eight 60kg for airfield attack.
because most had a fixed payload in WITP and this is just not the case in WW2.

No. Something had to fall by the wayside. The closest to it is that you can decide whether your torpedo-armed aircraft fly with torpedoes or bombs (since there's a lot fewer torpedoes around now).

Then the game engine should choose among the available bombloads based on mission and target. Can it?

One other thing (only a minor complaint) - in Witp the air combat animation had no scale for the different AC types involved (eg. the fighters were as big as the bombers). In CHS this has been fiddled with a bit, but still not great. Will we see some sort of realistic scaling in AE?
Even worse is the scale relationship between the planes and the ships. I realize that to make the scale accurate the plane would be miniscule, however, the real problem arrises with a lack of image sacling for the ships. The scale of the ship image seems to be set by the length of the longest ship needing to fit the window. As each individual ship appears in the window it's image should scale which it currently does not. Planes appear to have winspans longer then the length od subchasers which appear so small in the window they might as well not even be there. Make the ship image scale up and down as they appear in this window so the subshasers aren't floating specs in a window defined by the length of an aircraft carrier.

Aircraft art question?
Why is the aircraft art still combined (multiple aircraft) on a page and not a single bmb file for each aircraft like ships?

I hope this is the right place to ask.
Will there be any performance drop in shipbased floatplane search or drop in TF speed, specially for ships with many floatplanes? Employing and recovering 12 floatplanes in a CS slows a combat TF very much, it would take a couple of hours.

There should be a similar drop for carrier operations--that is fuel usage was for full speed, but the TF steamed into the wind rather than towards the eventual destination.

Are you SURE the Focker TIVa even made it to the DEI?

In RHS it is used for ASW patrols).

In AE will IJNAF land based fighters, dive bombers and torpedo bombers be carrier capable? I'm the ultimate JFB, but they just weren't trained in carrier landings. I think this is very gamey. It's also gamey that they can be disbanded into carrier trained units. Any thoughts?

Also without a device called the "tail hook" the aircraft would just roll off the flight deck and into the sea upon landing. Not a very repeatable process.

final 6 pack. Dixie guessed right and these are his requests:
OK, the fighters I recognize, but can anyone help a guy out and ID that 4E in the 6 pack. I have to admit I don't recognice it. Given a wild guess I'd say either a Lancaster or a Short Stirling, but I'm no where near as good with Brit planes as others.

Except in case of very low landing speed like Ki-76

Joe, so now there's a tail hook device? Very cool. Does this mean, for example, that there will be 2 types of A6M2, those with and those without tailhooks? And, to take it further, land-based IJNAF fighter daitai will not be able to use those with tailhooks?

Thank you. I suspected it might be, but like I said, I'm just not as good recognizing the Brit aircraft as I am American/Japanese planes.

On the contrary[:-]: very repeatable, every aircraft that tries it will repeat exactly. I will grant you that it isn't repeatable on the same airframe[:D]

Excuse me if you ask this question before, but i would like more about moddeling the skip bombing tactics with LB (B17 included) like 5th Air Force at south pacific.
I wait this will not be a stupid question

Thanks in advance

Will torpedo and dive bombers be able to drop aerial(naval) mines?
Late war aircraft

With 500 aircraft in this AE database I am assuming(gulp!!) that you may have some
jets included for the very late war. Is the "chief in charge of sound effects" including a corresponding jet engine sound .wav(s) or will the jets fly around sounding like washing machine charlie? Boy is this a trivial question, but "Hey I gots to know".
