Here's the Salerno area in the turn just after the landings near Rome. The Germans appear to have driven off to the north. Maybe.

I thought I'd capture Rome while I still could. I'm probably going to have a problem defending that until I get some more boots on the
ground near Rome.

Here's the strategic situation in T45. Rome kind of sticks out there like a sore thumb. The next task is to connect the separate areas
together into one giant LOC. The terrain favors doing that so I'll press units from both to work toward each other.

Here's the West side in T45. I'm still entangled w/ the Panzers and it's slowly coming to a head and I'll be pressing north shortly.

The situation in Rome is confused and dynamic and there's lots of action going on. I'm shipping in the Free French Division to help out
with the connection problem.

T46's front lines. I'm making progress in operation Good Connection and I have all the planes on CS missions to protect the troops and
it's working out magnificantly. The Germans attack me and they lose more than I do always. I've started using the smaller units as bait.

I've gotten some recent theater options and I'm going to take both of them just to see what they do. And if they work.

Here's the West side in T47. The Panzers have either moved away or I've killed them. This stack is all that's left locally. I'm working
on mopping it up as we speak.

Here's the strategic situation in T48. I'm making progress in getting Rome connected to Salerno but we're still not there yet. There are
more and more Germans showing up near Rome and it's really confused and dynamic still. I'll post a separate picture of the Rome
area to show you what I mean.

On the East side things are almost at a standstill for lack of supply. But at least we not have Foggia. I've moved some RR engineers
to the Anzio area to start a rail to Rome and thence to the NE.

It's T48 and here's that picture of the Rome area that I promised. I've got about 5 separate divisions there defending now and two more
pressing south. Lots of Germans have shown up to threaten the landings but I've expanded enough to be comfortable that we're here
to stay now and more and more Free French are showing up to take up the slack so it's looking good overall, long term.

T49's strategic situation. Progress is being made on the connection operation but there's more to go yet. The East side is moving
again. I've started a rail from Anzio to Rome......it's about 4 hexes long so far. Last turn I saw a bunch of Germans moving to the north
from the Rome area. I don't know where they were going but as far as I'm concerned they left the scene of the crime.

And as to the connection operation.........here's the gap that needs to be bridged yet. I'm not sure I brought enough troops to do the job.

The Foggia area hasn't changed much. Nobody has the supply to move or attack. The rail is being built in this direction but it's not there
yet.

Here's what Rome looks like now. Most of the Germans that were pressuring me have driven off to the north for some reason. So I'm
getting reorganized and sorting units out.

OK. There's a group of five German units that are between the Rome area LOC and the Salerno area LOC and I can't connect the
two areas unless and until I get rid of those German units. I'm going to probably have to bring in some more troops to do that.

I don't remember ever seeing a unit that had 0% supply before. But here's one. I move it and it goes to 1% supply. Strange.

Here's the situation in T51. The East side is moving again. The West side is almost linked together and we're pressing north and east
and it's looking pretty good so far.

Here's the Napoli area in T53. I'm reducing the roadblock so that the separate areas will be connected properly. I've got a rail line all the
way from Reggio to Salerno and from Anzio to Rome and I'm hoping that eventually I can get the two rails connected. I'll dedicate one of
the engineers to work on it. He'll be there for the rest of the game probably.

Here's Rome in T53. I'm in mop up mode and I've got the Free French lined up at the edge of the forest heading east clearing hexes as
they go. It's a huge forested area that needs to be cleared but it's slow and tedious and has to be done. I was thinking of clearing the
roads and letting it go at that but thought better of it.

Wow, Rome at turn 53.

I'm out of pocket for a few days. Will post a picture when I capture Naples.
