I'll send you the file. You can do the strikes and German land moves then back to me for Japan.

If you want to continue, here are instructions. It takes about 2-3 hours before I can play.

Ground strikes:
105mm hits Santarder
150mm hits Bilbao
3 Stukas and Bf110 hits SE of Santander (front bomber Bf110, followed by Ju87R, Ju87B and Ju87D). Bf109 (SW of Bordeaux) escorts and lands to same hex with von Leeb. All bombers land to same hexes they starter. (If fighter escort takes one air mission, then Ju87R is not flying).

If CW intercepts with ALL fighters, then intercept with Hungarian fighter also.

Rail GAR from Königsberg to SE of Seville in Spain.

I will try to take Santander (if bombers hit anything), CW has no SB this impulse. After that I could attack Bilbao from 2 hexes.

I presume you mean SE of Bilbao otherwise you'll be bombing your own troops [:)]. Or do you mean Santander as there are no bombers hitting the town at the moment, just the 105's?

Oooops. First I typed SE of Bilbao but wanted to change to Santander.

All bombers to Santander [:)]

I'm wondering if the Soviet/Japanese house rule in this game is supposed to reflect the ENTIRE spirit of the original not yet coded option? If so, there is a big element perhaps being over-looked that can benefit the Axis.

I think only DoW (garrison values) was played as house rule. Did we agree anything else?

Not as far as I remember. I think JT14 is referring to the compulsory peace option but we certainly didn't include that due to the difficulty in changing hex control without one of the Beta testers doing it for us.

Too bad. If playing with this option, and if in this case Japan would surrender, USSR would lose all their MIL's back to the force pools.

Now that the US has DoW'ed all Axis major powers, the USSR can solve this problem quite easily by declaring war on Italy. Something I would do anyway if I was playing Uncle Joe, because it will mean that at least Italy won't get a surprise impulse against the USSR...

Thanks Peter,

We are debating whether to upgrade to 2.3.6. Would you recommend doing so or waiting for the next version?

It looks to be pretty stable, so I would do so.

I would say we have to forget Malta attack.

I'm thinking about sending PARA to USSR border and hoping Italy to bring ATR to same hex. Also Italian Stuka would be good in east, Germany lacks air moves.

Sounds fair to me. I think the window of opportunity has passed us by in the Med. I'll abort the West Med naval combat after this round.

Good choise. We have to continue fight with naval bombers and fighters.

At the moment, the Allies can only feed limited amounts into the Med via Tangiers, so there may be an opportunity to engage on good terms but not this impulse with surprise in effect.

You made the right decision. Save your forces. Malta isn't imported anymore. The Axis should acknowledge that they have lost the initiative to the Allies and should look for opportunities to hit the Allies at weak points only. Preserve your forces and build up as many oil reserves as you can. Build out the German and Japanese SYNTH as soon as possible.

In the west, with the entry of the US into the war, the Axis high water mark has been reached and the tide is on the turn. In the east, necessity will drive further expansion into the USSR in an attempt to buy time but the life expectancy of the 1000-year Reich is looking likely to come up slightly short.

In the Pacific and China

I don't think the Italians should continue contesting CSV. It's time to focus on making the West Med too dangerous for the Allies to operate in.

I would like to stay positive, but things are not looking good. Portugal is open to Allies as is entire France. As long as northern Spain stands our troops are tied to stay there..
