Northern Austria

As can be seen from this campaign map Prussia was in a hopeless situation. Its King did the rational thing and ended the war.

In January Prussia would have been invaded by well over 1/2 million troops. Its own army was a battered wreck. It would have been a slaughter-and the Egyptian Army very likely would have carried some booty home.

For weeks the slaves of the Sultan have waited,
Yet no word comes.
The Sublime Porte is silent.
The hearts of the people grow fearful.
Does the Defender of The Two Shrines dally with his harem overlong?
Can the Scourge of the Infidel have lost his taste for conquest?
Is foul intrigue keeping our Exalted Master from continuing his march to ultimate victory?
The Minions of the Sultan beg His indulgence.
Send word, Mighty King and then execute us for impertinence!
At least then we will die happy and in peace...

(A humble lurker who has followed your reports with great enjoyment)

Dear Reader's-fret not. The Sultan is well as is the Empire. It looks like the reports have fallen behind a bit-like 6 months. Monthly reports are saved; I simply need time away from the front to publish those. It shall not be too much longer-insallah.

We (in the Sultans west province) also are concerned. We begin to think the Sultan has been lured by the scent of european women may have softened his resolve.

Perhaps just a small bit. The 2nd Army is deep inside Russia at this time-operating without the guidance of the Sultan. The Sultan is busy checking out Russian provinces as to their possible worth as an addition to the Ottoman Empire.

All praise to God and to the King of Kings!
The hearts of your servants rejoice!
I have slaughtered a choice goat and prepared a feast in order to celebrate this news.
(Later, I will beat my three wives and 12 children with a thorny stick in order to further the spirit of festivity. They have been getting a bit rowdy recently, in the absence of a firm guiding hand.)
But the Hand of The Ansar has returned! Let the infidel despair!
Advance the Banner of the Prophet to the shores of the Western Oceans!
We await the joyous news!

Your humble servant

Glory Standings

The Ottoman moral continues to climb rapidly. The Europeans must be dismayed. There will be no surpassing the O.E. in glory without defeating it.

Afyon is a prime timber region. With level 6 and seven barracks every bit of timber will have to be squeezed from the provinces.

Treaties

The Dictate of Moravia, the Ottoman peace treaty with Prussia, called for large payments upfront. A total of 1200 was taken. There are some additional small monthly payments for a short time. Austria did not have enough points to keep a province, but it can "borrow" it. If Russia can be forced to surrender while Austria holds that province it will give Matto additional options.

1st Army with Sultan

The first Army entered the war 182,000 strong. It's losses will soon be made good. The moral of these divisions re among the highest in the whole Army. Replacements have maintained a base value of 4.5. That amount has normally had the affect of increasing units moral level. In the case of the 1st Army it degrades moral.

Note the Sultan's fame-869.

Prussian Army

Not long ago this was a 150,000 plus army. It was flush with victory after slapping the Russian's around. After 2 battles with Ottoman forces it is a mob with fewer cannons and horses-not to mention men.

Note in the bottom right corner the "barracks per quarter". It is now 110-and it is still climbing. This is about 16 times more than the rate from 18 years ago. There can be no doubt that this is by far the highest level in Europe-by a margin of 2 to 3 to one.

Supremacy is at hand...

Battle History

The battles of Vienna and Moravia were not just victories, but decisive victories. These cause greater gnashing of teeth by the defeated foe.

Austria

The 1st Army is making its way back to Belgrade-at a slow pace. The 2nd Army, which did not get a chance to fight the Prussians will make a slow march to the east. The Czar has been given until March to make peace with Austria. If that does not occur-the Ottoman's march again.

It is not intended to send the 1st Army into Russia. The Egyptian Army will head to Trieste. It may embark for Cyprus-or Besserrabia depending on what the Czar does.

Glory Standings

Ottoman Glory shines so bright...It is hard to believe that there will not be a crusade of some sort. It is starting to look like the Europeans are too disjointed to conduct a joint effort. I still count on my old ally in Paris. We had stuck together through good and bad-I do not expect that tot change now.

Bursa is a fast track province-roads leading the way for everything. There are multiple options in how to proceed with that province. One over riding concern is the lack of courts. That will likely be the next area to work on. Bursa has no courts at all-that is why it has been continually delayed. The cost for level 1 is 150 in gold-a bit steep-even for the Sultan.

This was a quiet month. Ottoman forces continue a slow march to their new camps. The Russians have withdrawn into their interior.

I am around 11 turns behind with the aar. I have folders for nearly every turn and will update the aar soon. The past several weeks have been very full of RL stuff.

We took more than a week off from the game. It has resumed, but now there is an internet problem with one player. I am expecting to finish this. We are on turn 227 (coming up next)of 281. It would be a shame to stop now-especially for the Ottoman Empire's glory. [;)]

March 1810

The 2nd Army made good time in its march east. Many of its divisions are well below the replacement moral (4.5) level (the reverse of the 1st Army) so the Sultan has no qualms about ordering it to speed march-even in the winter. It has reached Odessa-with orders to charge the walls. The Fleet has been ordered to blockade Odessa to ensure a short siege.

The Carpathian and 5th Armies will make their way to Russia in a supporting role. The 1st will remain near Belgrade.

Great Britain still has a phony war with Sweden ongoing. It has a problem of very large French forces sitting right across the Channel-including the main French Fleets. The English King must be a little leery of sending his somewhat smallish army to Sweden under these circumstances.

April 1810

The Ottoman Empire has just achieved 3000 in Glory. Its lead is rather solid at this point.

Provincial improvements are still rolling along. The goal for barracks has nearly been reached. emphasis can now be safely shifted to cultural centers.

The expansion of the merchant fleet, which had long been desired, is now also a possibility. The O.E. can have 7 merchant fleets, but still has only the one it had in 1792. As I understand it, a level 7 docks will accelerate the building of all ships. With this in mind, the number of provinces with level 7 docks will be increased to 3. There will also be a benefit to merchant income.

Culture Standings

Although the O.E. is currently lagging behind, this will soon change. Russia has a very slim lead-this will be taken away within a short period of time. There will be a little bit of pillaging in Russia-this should net a few culture points. There will be enough added through construction and pillage so that the O.E. should have the highest culture in a few months time.
