Remember that the Allies have a wide variety of subs. Many have low speed like the S-boats at 14 knots and the British are not much faster. You got spoiled with Japanese subs doing 21 knots and hitting their targets. [;)]

Well, in this case four fish gives a pretty decent chance! [:)]

Yes, I know they do get into better attack positions with a higher chance to hit, but there have been way too many misses lately from working torpedoes. Not complaining, just frustrated.

Still, they're doing a good job, and force Japan to consider them. That is still a great asset.

Gotta find the lemonade in the sub misses: every missed attack is still an experience gain for captain and crew. Soon they will be much better at hitting.

[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]INDIA: [/font]The progress here has slowed as recon studies the rear f the Japanese positions and new weak points are identified. Hyderabad continues to be a stand off, but that is fine. Once stage two there begins the base will likely become untenable without ever having to tackle the large CAP.

In the North several new para units have arrived along with some tanks and engineers. These will be essential to the next risky stage of the push toward Calcutta. Patna has 120 fighters and around 28k troops. As this base is in the clear I will attempt to hit it eventually but timing is crucial. He's left Raipur alone lately, after a CAP of 50 fighters has moved in, so that base is no building a bigger airfield and increasing forts.

[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]Pacific: [/font] After the KB hit a few days ago small TFs are now unloading again in the Gilberts and surrounding areas. The Elice Islands are being used as a forward fuel and supply dump area and the ports will be built on the two islands that can build them. No air cover means that it's dicey here, but far enough back that hopefully I'll have a day's warning if anything is coming.

This operation is going well and although it's slow, this is much farther than I'd imagined I'd be in summer of 42, with three functional airbases in the Gilberts and almost all of the islands occupied and fortified.

[font="Microsoft Sans Serif"]CHINA: [/font] Some massive concentrated airstrikes in China. Other than that, just the bombardments continuing as usual. It looks like some units may be moving away from the Sian area. I'm thinking he may not strike here now, but just focus all around to the Southern areas that have achieved some progress.

At last a few minutes to sit down with the game this weekend! We've still been getting one and some days two turns done, but this week has been crazy at work and the next few will be even more difficult for game time. My presence here will be limited to say the least. All for good reasons, though. [:)]

On Sept 6th I marry Rachel, my partner of 4+ years here in London. Since almost all of the planning (AE logistical training coming in handy) is finished, we are now starting to enjoy and look forward to the several days of celebration with friends and family.

So just wanted to give a heads up that my updates will be sporadic over the next few weeks.

One of the things I love about the venue for our wedding, The Foundling Museum, is that there are old paintings all over the walls. Not just any old paintings though. Because many children who were raised in Coram's Foundling Hospital and Orphanage went on to serve in the military, especially the RN, there are nautical paintings all over the place. This one will be just to our side as we say our vows! [&o]

Ha! A bit uncertain for weather this time of year so we opted for an indoor venue. [;)]

My wife is sitting on the couch typing away, the laundry is going around in the dryer, I'm still in my gym shorts and tee shirt and I've just gotten the third turn today loading from Nick. Ahh, married life! [:D]

Not so different than before really, but it feels different, in a good way. All went well. The bride showed up, we said the right things, none of the family got in fights, and we all drank a lot of champagne!! [:)]

So, tomorrow I hope to get some updates done. We've played a few turns here and I've started to figure out what I'm doing again after a few weeks off. Feels good to get back in the saddle.
