Bedtime for me, too. Work is over, but now the real work begins, as I try to get the house ready for our big Christmas Eve family dinner. [8|][:D]
Once the dishes are all cleaned up on Christmas Eve night, my vacation will completely begin. [8D]

Evening tithe.
Up in the northern part of Sweden. Those weather guys that said the snow storm was "calming down" deserve no Christmas presents ... I've spent the last 11 hrs trying to see the backlights of the car ahead through the snowwhirls while at the same time keeping the car on the road. Passed 8 crash sites on the way. My eyes are feeling like somebody dumped a beach of sand in them.
Ah well, I got to the destination whole and well anyway ... [:)]

Good morning Leo!
Temp just now is -19 Centrigrade (~-2 F). Actually, there´s not much more snow here than it was in Stockholm down south. Approximately 60-80 centimeters. My old man says it's more than a meter if you just go some miles inland though (Lulea is a coastal town).
It's nice to be back at the the old 'crime scene' where I grew up [:D] The only thing I don't like being so far up north, is that the sun just barely manages to come up above the horizon. Today, the sun rises 09.55 and goes down 13.04. That's a "day" just 3 hrs and 9 mins long ... so it get's quite dark. [:(]
On a more positive note though, that means that the both the starry sky and the aurora borealis is quite spectacular

Hi all,
It was -14 degrees centigrade in the morning just 3 days ago... crazy weather changes (this latest heat is coming from Africa over Mediterranean)... it will be warm and rainy Christmas though... [:(]

I'm sure I remember a time, long ago when I was but a young lad, when around October to February time the weather used to get cold. On occasion it would even leave the flatlands of Lincolnshire with a covering of this snow stuff that seems to be everywhere. It came every year, between the bit where the leaves fall off the trees and the bit where they grow back. People got on with their lives, no-one ever mentioned calling in the military to help or went out to the local shops to buy 8 weeks worth of bread and loo roll.
Fast forward 20 years, and winter and been replaced with a surprise weather system where it gets cold and sometimes snows This new phenomenon is so surprising that it has managed to sneak up and surprise the UK again, by doing the seemingly unexpected and turning up at the same time as last year All those people who went to the airport despite the "heavy" snowfalls that are bringing chaos to their daily life without checking their flights first deserve to be stuck at Gatwick for eternity plus a day. Do they think it's not going to snow on an airport? That they have special snow roofs? Did they perhaps think that the airline would phone them if their flight was cancelled? And stop demanding the bloody military come and dig you out of your homes, they're busy. Probably digging themselves out of their own homes for a start, novel idea I know, you're snowed in? Grab a shovel and start digging.
And another thing, why does the snow mean that traffic lights are optional? Did I do a different driving teat to the rest of Oxfordshire? Was it written into the highway code in biro at the back?
Is the news really that slow these days that the arrival of winter is actually news? I'm living in a country full of ****wits and morons it seems. When did the world turn so retarded?

We have absolutely the same thing here. The governement even complain about the national weather meteo administration because they did foresee 10 cm of snow, when in fact it snowed 15cm [X(]. A few days later, they realized how ridiculous it was and dropped any idea of trial (yes, you read right, trial) against the weather guys.
But as snow was once more awaited, the governement ask to 16 armored vehicules to be ready (ready to what ?).
Of course, journalist don't even know the difference between an armored vehicule (their are, it seem, plenty of kind of vehicules), and so immediately started to talk about TANKS [X(][8|].
And each and every people complain about the amount of snow. WHAT DOES THE GOVERNEMENT AGAINST THE WEATHER ???
I am pretty sure that each year, humanity is a bit more stupid....(and i think i deserve to be part of it [8|] )

Hi Leo. Same thing here : 3 days ago, we "enjoyed" -7°C, then a new snowfall of just a few inches, and since yesterday, +10°C [&:]
I believe Aliens are involves in this huge mess.....and they are even hidding in the governement [;)]
