I'm curios, are you guys surprise on the Red Army quick Recovery? when I was analyzing the results for turn 18. even I though the Soviets would only make meager progress in Winter.

the Strength of the Red army, compared to how it was, even surprises me! of course a good part of that is because of the many rifle divisions we receive as reinforcements before the winter months.

South is Done and I have great news in the center!
I will name it the "medium" tambov pocket



the yellow lines are a buffer line, meant to observe German MPs
the red lines are the real defense, actual cav corps!
decided to go conservative in order to ensure that the pocket is not broken, the Germans are close to the rail now..
that is 5 divisions + 2 inf regiments and with next turn still being January, I'm confident that the pocket will hold.
2nd Guards cav in the Northern Pincer is too weak right now, I will pull it back some 4 hexes for refit

Couldn't find any, just a single motorised unit as far as fast divisions are concerned

My instinct is to concentrate North of Voro. If the trapped units can hold out for one turn then we can bring some serious force against them in two weeks time.

hoo I've noticed, and the 7th panzer division has gone missing from it's level 4 town... axis are planning something.

and to make matters worse, the 2 Mountain divisions are also missing... after your turn, I will update the panzer tracker

Turn 31: 3 panzer divisions are at the front line now.... they are starting to get serious with us

there are still 4 Motorize divisions that can be mobilized... and the 2 Mountain divisions that where at Rostov previously are now MISSING!!

we can't be caught off guard this February...

for the Cavalry, refit is several times more important then infantry
the game system only builds 200 cav squads in the refit phase.
and another 200 in the normal logistics phase
+ the cav squads that where damage in the previous turn
and since every rifle division demands at least 1 or 2 cav squads, the refit phase is the only realistic chance for cav corps to build up strength.
don't leave cav corps on the front for too long, they will get depleted.

they have some low cvs at the entrance - but not worth getting them to live another turn?

Well it's certainly possible to break through to the tambov pocket, but it's risky. You'd potentially be putting your head into a noose.
