How do I find out what kind of ram I have?  I think it's time to get more. [:D]

Try a search on the manufacturer's website for your model number. The type of RAM and the maximum it can be expanded to should be somewhere in the details for your model.

This is a good idea, Mike. RAM is a relatively inexpensive performance upgrade for a computer, with a usually good return on investment.

That won't work, Mike.  Someone built the thing.  Guess I'll just open it up to see what kind of ram I use.  I have no idea to know how much I can have though.
 
Next question:  Can I mix 512 mb and 1 gm ram?

Most motherboards these days will allow different size RAM "cards". 

If you do a bit of searching online after you determine the type of RAM you already have, you will probably realize it's not worth messing with 512 mb increments anymore.  [:D]

It has been a while since I priced any ram, so I might be completely talking out of my ass here.  [;)]

If you open it up you can try and see what model of motherboard you have. Google that and ut should tell you what you need. Max the think out, RAM is dirt cheap these days.

PS. remember, unless you're got a 64 bit OS, that anything over 4Gb is wasted.
