I think Lord Ormster is being somewhat modest here. The Swedish Maestro is the finest wargamer I have ever played with/against.
Alright, you two. Get a room. [;)]
I wish I understood the game more-in order to give me some sort of perspective. In general, guys, what do you think of WIF? Is it worth it for a noob to pick up or too 'full of warts' against the AI?
warspite1
Yep - best game ever. Happy to answer any specific questions you have on this anytime.

Yep - best game ever.
How can that be if there's no functional AI?

World In Flames is the best game ever imo. The computer version has some issues but its still a great game. Yes there is no AI but the game can be played solitaire (which is actually more fun than it sounds) but also PBEM - and let's face it this game is meant to be played human vs human (I can't see that a great AI would ever be possible (though that is not my area of expertise)).
If I were you and you can afford to take a punt, I would give it a go, but can understand why anyone would not at the moment.

Hey Chickenboy-san,
Nice to see you over here. Yep, no AI, and it won't be here for a while. But the game is surprisingly fun solo. The way the game flows, I manage to 'surprise' myself more often than one might expect, simply because I don't see stuff when I take one power's turn, and then I notice it when I take another power's turn. But then, I've enjoyed playing board wargames solitaire my whole life. If you're not used to doing that, MWIF might not be for you right now.

I think that, although a little risky, that was the right decision in the CSV. Whilst another 1 v 10 would be most unwelcome, with no aircraft flying we would be wrong to try and play safe.

I wonder what trickery the Japanese could be up to such that the moves were unclear????

It was more the principle of the thing. Impossible situation for RN to back down here.
With that said I think there is no practical benefit to intercept. Bismarck is damaged and Germany has shown no inclination of building a surface fleet so therefore I doubt that Bismarck will be repaired even if she reach port.

No idea. I suppose that it is where he wants the land units transported.

I think the effects of taking Gibraltar are (to an extent) nullified without a fleet to use (although they could use subs and air I guess). But she had led a charmed life to date and I fully expect the Bismarck to be repaired [:(]

Why is that? Do you have anything specific in mind?

1) Turn is likely to end anyway.
2) I rather that Axis ends the turn so that the initiative moves one step towards the Allies.
3) CW need to adjust the convoy lines.

I was thinking that USSR should remove one or two of the bombers so they can redeploy the following turn. If so they must be stationed on cities. Maybe something to consider?

Ormster should we be saving more oil further east away from German clutches?
What about starting an AMPH with the French? or an INF?
Soviet Builds
HQ INF (5)
Mech (5)
INF (3)
FTR (3)
Reinforcement
Assign a pilot to I16(I7)
Assign a pilot to TB-3
Placement
TB-3 in Novgorod
I-16 in Leningrad
4-5 MOT in Vitebsk
7-3 INF in Smolensk
ChiComm
5-4 MTN in Ningsia
1-5 DIV in Ningsia
Remove Air
SB-2RK to Reserve Pool
Question: If one wants to remind themselves of how many pilots they have in reserve at any point during the game, how is this done? I know how many I have now - but will forget by tomorrow.....[:(] I also want to ensure the program gives me the pilot for the aircraft I put into reserve.

You can see the pilots available by looking at the reserve pool.
