None of the starting boats.......I stopped all the others.......so even if I wanted them ....they would be 200 days away...........................

The few surviving TKs....the only good news here....is I think Speedy will close all the oil producing bases with his LRB.....before I run out of TKs..............

22nd July 1944........

Five turns have come and gone....and Speedy's carriers have indeed pulled back to Saipan.........a small victory.......esp. if it means an end to his long-range raiding for now..........my Kami groups are refilling with new cannon fodder........

His Night bombing of the HI has stopped for now.........but I suspect not for long....perhaps he is massing his bombers for one large raid...........

Lost a PC to a sub....but killed the sub in exchange.....

2 new Frank Sqdrns came online.......

23rd-25th July 1944..........

Speedy shock attacked across the river north of Moulmein..........he lost many troops.....but there is no doubt that he will in the end win here as well.....although it may take him a few weeks of bombing me back to the stone age........sadly here I have no forts........5 turns ago when I had 1700 av in the hex.....I had 6 fort lvl....now when I have 5000 av.....I have none.......hmmm......

His subs hit another TK....she is limping back to Brunei......

His subs also hit 2 APs which were on their way to Bonin with an Inf. Div..........both sank.......but I badly damaged one of the subs involved.......

His HI Bombing resumed.........he hit 10 manpower.........at Osaka?....he also attacked Shimuzu.....each time a sqdrn of night fighters intercepted.........his 30 or so bombers.....each time I lost a NF and had a handfull damaged....while he had a handfull of Superforts damaged..........

Sounds like a major victory to me. Free roving CVs would have put a quick but painful end to the war. I am impressed with the kamikaze results, they are much more effective than I had thought. [X(]

Kamikazes were effective.  They just didn't sink a lot of ships compared to the number they damaged.  For some reason, the number 365 or so sticks in my mind as to the number of ships damaged by Kamikazes in the Okinawan Campaign.

I know historically they were effective. I have read a number of threads though complaining that it doesn't work right in witp...but who knows, maybe that was just the usualy suspects belly aching. [;)]

Well did several different types of kami prove effective, or only the high flying zeke trick ?

From what I read, the Zero was the best, due to it's speed and agility.

Lost an AO to ...yes, you guessed it .....subs....today.......also a PC ........

Speedy bombed around the map.........and is now reconning the HIs from CHINA........dear Thread..........time to activate spme of my training fighters.......to suppliment the NF on CAP.....no night bombing this turn.......

As Far As....Kamis........A6M5s and A6M5Cs are both good...the 5c better......I think because of bomb load.......I am flying them above the ceiling of the Hellcats........until it proves to be too gamey.....I've also changed some Graces.......into Kamis....but there only strike was against the unescorted Intrepid....so I've yet to see how usefull they are...........

Yeah, something like that number... and 30 or so sunk, with - IIRC - around 1,500 kamikaze planes.

One of the more interesting late-war what-if's is what if the Japanese had concentrated their Kamikazes 100% against the US transport forces instead of the more heavily defended carriers...

There would have been a good chance that I wouldn't be writing this. Had that occurred and had we not used the atomic bombs, my Dad would have been on one of those transports.....

Not good, Mike................around 40,000 last turn.............still getting oil and resources in...but at a much reduced rate 100,000 a month....if I'm lucky........and I fear this will not last long...........Palambang is no..more or less ....off limits........as is Tobali(sp).......and soon Miri and Brunei will be under threat from the air.........

no they doesn't work right in WiTP! If you read more carefully, you will find that Faber using them on max altitude - above Hellcat ceiling. Only then they can hit something.

Problem with that is some folks consider this - gamey tactic....

Pauk.....I agree to the gamey nature of this........but with the late war A2A model....and it's uber CAP.......it is the only way they work.......without this tactic....I could fly 1,000 Kami and not get one hit............Speedy and I are well aware of the situation....and are watching closely..........I'm also limiting myself(self imposed rule) to only 5 Zeke Sqdrns assigned as Kamis.......let's see how this works out....I feel late war ......you have to be a bit flexible as to 'gamey' tactics.......after all....the other day my aircraft met 900 aircraft on CAP..................

You need to trust your opponent not to abuse it - I am one of the most vitriolic in my dislike for it but even I would concede that it may have to be allowed (certainly in non PDU games) in PDU games I am less sure I will tolerate it with masses of China trained pilots and every army pilot in a Frank !!!
