The USAAF recived Spitfires,Mosquitos and Beaufighters. The USN received Spits for observation duties over the Normandy beaches (vice Kingfishers, which we assumed wouldn't survive). Here's an early (1942) USAAF edition in the UK.
Thats because Americans refused to take pictures unless someone could hear them say "cheese". [:D]

Not just recon birds either...
They operated some 600 spitfires all up.

So whats the actual story with that hole?
It's where an oblique camera would have been fitted on a real recce kite.
you mean... the brits actually had the technology to operate a camera remotely? I don't believe that. I think your first story is true!
He did fib a bit to spruce up the truth. In reality the little guy in back had to sketch the scene below.

Yes, that's what I thought. The Brits had painters on board to paint the scene.
I heard the Italians planned to land and ask for informations while the french were just planning to drop white flags.

Women's triathlon right now. Too sad they only do the "olympic distance" (go figure). I'd love to see them do the long distance. But all nicely trained women. Nice to watch [8D]

Croatia won silver yesterday (men's team quadruple sculls) - the Germans were quicker and won gold (although in all competitions to date our crew always won against Germany)... but that's sport... our guys told us that the wind shifted when the race started and that they had their oars configured for different wind type... ahhh...
