Good stuff but the sub losses are a concern I would think.

Yes, I hate losing subs! But at least one of the two this month was an RO- class. Bummer to lose a minelayer though.

Finally getting back to the updates. Been busy doing some mod work on Close Combat TLD as well as planning for an upcoming AE team game with thegreatwent and I versus OSO and Airgriff. And did I mention job, wife, kids.. etc?
Anyway - back to the action (or lack thereof) -
December 1st, 1943
Pacific is quiet except for our ASW groups playing cat and mouse with enemy submarine. Not sure which is the cat
though.. it changes often.
Today SS Permit and SS Snooke were both attacked with onl minor damage believed to be inflicted.

Again a quiet day.
This time, SS Bowfin was the cat and attacked DD Isokaze, but missed.
SS Pargo was attacked by our subchasers.

Today the Allies send a raid from Wake to hit Eniwetok. 58 B-24D Liberators do moderate damage to the facilities there. 4 Ki-32 Mary dive bombers are destroyed on the field.
On the mainland, a large raid hits resource production at Hanoi. The first wave consists of 128 various heavy bombers escorted by 36 P-38s. A reasonable force of Jacks, Tojos and Irvings attempt to defend. One of the Irvings actually takes down a P-38. In the end, 9 of the P-38Js are shot down along with 2 of the heavy bombers. 6 Tojos, 5 Jacks and 4 Irvings also go down.
A second wave of 25 Liberator III and 15 B-17Es hit the area also but does little damage.
Hanoi defenders will likely be moved to Saigon to avoid tangling with P-38s.

We've suspended this game, game date around March 2nd, 1944, due to the pilot bug.
I will finish out this AAR up to that date when I have a chance, and then if the bug is ever fixed we'll pick things up again.

Why didn't you choose to stop pilot replacement and to keep yourself in some limit?
The bug pilot occurs when there are a total of 30000 pilot or perhaps 27500 as you already suggested.
For example, you could have decided with your opponent to stay beneath a limit: 10500 for jap, 17000 for allies, it is an example.
It is very easy to check out every day with WitPtracker.

We did do just that, rominet. We set a limit of 9,000 Japanese pilots and 18,000 Allied pilots. We played the game that way for about 2 weeks of in game time, but after a recent successful counterattack on my part he feels the restriction on pilots is hurting his game too much. He also feels he has to spent far to much time alt-tabbing back and forth between tracker and WITP each turn. While I would like to continue the game under this restriction I can understand where he is coming from and have to respect that if he isn't enjoying the game, that it would be better to hope for the devs to fix this glaring bug rather than continue.
We can only hope for a fix, and then maybe we can see if I am able to successfully defend the Empire.

Well won't a fix require a restart?
BTW, the score is so much in the favor of the Japanese.
Shouldn't the auto-win condition kick in?

They say it will require a restart, but I've also heard some folks (not the devs mind you) say it should be possible to fix games in progress. We'll just cross our fingers and hope for the best.
No autovictory here, and even if we hit it, we would have continued playing.
If I get tired of waiting, I may post for a replacement player as Dave was pretty understanding about that.
I've got an AE game that I'm working on now though, a 2x2 team game.

I am dreading the pilot bug -plan to play through it as it affects both sides much the same -in game against tabpub it seemed to make little difference -he still kept shooting me down in droves!
I plan to expend all the good pilots anyway before it hits, by early 44 at latest.
Rumours that game can be fixed while enroute are true .
PM me fred!
