I'm seeing a great encirclement link-up at Vladamir from the Ryazan and Yaroslavl axes. Your wings are positioned for it.
HahHah

Maybe but Larry always just go and advance.
But, why attacking at all during winter - PO is programmed to counterattack either way - and he is too weak to attack at all at 19K HRS....
Stalingrad, Rostov etc that is good target for Spring 1942.
But let's see how the play will go. How much there is on hand Soviet HRS, planes, tanks etc.... Inquiring minds want to know.
Damn it now I must play TOAW Chess

It's now T51 R1 before I have moved anybody. I have 19.3K HRS's right now. This is the third turn of the Soviet Winter Offensive and the Soviets have broken through my lines in multiple places. But I think I can recover.

I'm waiting for the Soviet Winter Offensive to be over with sometime in T52 or so.

Yeah, I'm too weak to attack right now.

I'll give you the low down on Soviet equipment in a future posting.

Larry,
Those 9K HRS are a available for later distribution, due to pestilence many manpower and equipment ends there.
I wish you will prevail in your game. Looking forward to your future adventures. The Soviets have 10 turns Winter Offensive I think, hang on.
Good luck

This is the Soviet Inventory and Replacements panel and it's showing 35.2K Rifle Squads assigned right now and 143.3K Rifle Squads have been killed so far. The Il-4 is the only Heavy Strategic Bomber the Soviets have and they have lost 1.7K of them and they have only 174 of them assigned. I found it interesting that the production of P-40's from Lend Lease is going to end in T75. That's not far from right now.

It's now T52 R1 before I have moved anybody. There are multiple places where the Soviets have broken through my lines. I'm not sure that I can recover from that. This might be the game's turn around point. It can get bad before it gets any better. I have 18.6K HRS's.

Looking at the Soviet losses and where you are - I think you are in a good position. You have Leningrad and Stalino, you have been knocking out T-34s & KV1s effectively, and, you have the foresight to avoid costly defensive mistakes.
I'm curious - why not go for Moscow next summer? You're in a great position to start from. Use the Case Blau option and finish that up.
How many city points are in the Moscow envelopment versus heading southwest and south?

It's still T52 R1 before I have moved anybody. I thought I'd give you guys an impression of the places where the Germans have been successful in breaking through my lines. In this situation I'll have to pull back on both groups those axis units north of the breech and those south of the breech. Some of my units will be trapped behind enemy lines but there's nothing for it.

It's still T52 R1 before I have moved anybody. In this situation I'll have to pull back everybody who can move because I need to regroup and get reorganized. Too many holes in my line to repair it.

Backhand blow Larry.
Manstein tactics.
BTW, you have repaired almost all railroads that maybe gives you a little twisted view and you keep on advancing. Supply is big factor but I rest any unit that has taken too much casualties.
In my game I think that I didn't damaged Soviets like you but good enough - but mostly my divisions are full.
I am only doing counterattacks with few divisions I have left in reserve just behind the front. Some of them are just resting there. I will have to compare my results witn yours.
I am also doing tremendeous amount of gun barrages so last dozen turns this game have become The Operational Art of Borbardment
I have managed to play one round lol I have really slowed it down but I hope to get to offensive soon. Now will be 55th turn.

It's now T53 R1 before I have moved anybody. I'm being slowly pushed backward before the Soviet onslought. But I'm making progress at Sevastopol. I have 17.4K HRS's.

It's still T53 R1 before I have moved anybody. I having a hard time disengaging my units from the Soviet units so I can retreat. Most of my units are mixed in with the Soviets and cannot disengage. And when they try to back up they are "engaged" and lose their MP's. So I quit trying to back them up. I'm leaving my low-rent units as sacraficial units so I can retreat the rest of the stack. I'm going to lose a lot of units before I can get away cleanly.

It's still T53 R1 before I have moved anybody. This is typical of the strength of my units. Note the heavy losses. This unit is no longer combat ready.

It's now T55 R1 before I have moved anybody. I have 15.4K HRS's and I'm still falling back. I'm concentrating on blowing bridges as I go and trying to disengage my units from the Soviet ones. Way too many of my units are still engaged or are bypassed and now are trapped behind enemy lines.

Larry, don't worry, Napoleon and Hitler tried it and both failed.
My advice for future play - try to preserve manpower - it is possible, every TOAW scenario is Marathon - not a single run play.
Aside that Marx Brothers famous Duck Soup - Mirror Scene for a laugh

It's now T59 R1 before I have moved anybody. I have 18.4K HRS's and it's growing larger slowly. I've managed to form an MLR of sorts along the rivers. Maybe it'll slow down the Soviets for a while.

Don't lose Kiev against Put... er

Stalin forces Larry.
I am right now at turn 55. Only two tactical breakthrough of front line that could be easily dealt with. Now, I hope to make some Operational Reserve for all thee Army Groups.
Not too much moves until Spring. I will just try to capture Sevastopol and Murmansk.

Larry, have you played Third Reich 1942-1945 by Mark Dibbs.
Where is Mark? I hope that he is safe in Odessa.
That scenario seems very well designed. But, it is PBEM only, AI tends to retreat from Soviet front line (me Axis) so maybe to start hot seat then cancel AI Allied side and press end turn.
I know that then human have one free move but hehe maybe it could work.
Idea for your next AAR.
