like pealing onion - I like it
today enemy defence was much weaker - i don't see previously hit ships - maybe TF was divided and uk flattops were expected to be hit and hope was put in their armoured decks
i still feel that it would be indecisive - in terms of sunk ships and think about my lost cruisers if it was worth

Lessons learnt from this action?  Well for a start unless I have complete air superiority over the India ocean it is a waste of time and effort.  I had thought that the four CVs would have been enough to handle a couple of Jap CVs but have been proven wrong.  Also there are not enough bases along the West coast of OZ from which to operate long range naval search or strike aircraft.   Then there is the time and effort that has to be put into steaming ships to Perth which in my opinion is to far.

I think that I will allow Sneer to “own” the IO and concentrate more to the east and the north of Oz where I can use land based aircraft to cover my ops.   [:(]

what else can i say
that i have both navy torpedo planes and zero basic fighters over 600 in stores ?????
only 10 or so pilots were lost during last 2 attacks so i can live with it
battle with your CV brought 80 losses so far

all i want is why my DDs did move only 1 hex back to base - full speed - enough fuel ......
looks like Raverdave will manage to move his convoys as it is too costly to hunt them

At last my airface is learning how to hunt and kill jap naval units.   It strikes me as sheer maddness to try and attempt convoy interdiction so close to allied air bases.

painful experiance - as always with enemy 4e raids
last month was definetly a draw and it becomes a sign for nearest future I fear
good at least that allied CV TF is completly out of use for next few months so i doubt there will be any naval offensive movement in short term

I do think that I have at last air superiority over a small area.....north of Darwin.  [:)]  I must admitt to being puzzelled by Sneer's lack of LRCAP on his ships..........makes for better hunting for me.

too many TFs in the area to cover all :-)
usually FT mission are prioritized
it is difficult to base single sqns for that duty as that mission would be hammered by B17 next day - without B17 in the area i would stand at timor and fight in air - now i keep rather in rear bases as I need 100+ fighters to deliver minimum resistance
second - flying over TFs is not very effective if range is >3 + brings attrition losses i don't like

I fear that I am starting to become much too bold.    I have been sweating on surface recon mission (TF of 6 DDs) that I sent deep into Jap waters, and they have safely returned without being spotted.   I have found a hole under Sneer's wire.
