Is there a way to change ammo supply for a unit?

Hi-
I would like to cut the artillery ammo supply in half. Is it possible? Everytime I go into the editor and change the ammo supply after hitting ok it reverts back to the original number, why?
What am I doing wrong?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!![&o]

No ammo is automatically calculated based on the number of corresponding equipment.

BTW you can't alter it either in COTA but in COTA you can adjust the daily amounts of supplies arriving for the side. You can't do so for a particular unit or a particular type of supply like arty ammo.

Hi Arjuna-
Thats dissapointing to hear, I was hoping on changing Battle of The Boxtel Bases and reducing the ammo supply. Then players will have to conserve they'reammo and instead of calling on artillery all the time and getting it, you might have to fallback to a better position.
I was trying to avoid the idea of units always having artillery all day all the time. Even if I reduced the numbers of guns they would still be able to fire most of the time.
In the scenario editor do you think it would be possible to add this in the next game?
Thanks

hattrick1,
I'm sorry but we most likely won't have time to make that change. However, I would reduce the number of arty and bombardment units and play with the Less Supply option when you start the scenario. This reduces the side's overall resupply percentage. As I said in COTA you can adjust the daily percentages in the SM.

There's a way, where u can simulate units running outta ammo on the first day of a scenario.
In my Cologne scenario, I changed the value in the artys' summary tabs (" % of Estab") in order to get access to the values for ammunition. Once you've set the value to
100% you'll be able to set the amount of let's say HE rounds (for example) to your liking.
I did these changes to most arty units in that scenario, means I set their HE rounds to "40", to simulate that these troops were hastily sent to the front lines and that they had to hand over ammo, supplies and even vehicles to imaginary troops in another theatre (Hungary).
Furthermore, I set vehicles to "0", and set basics (food + water) to 0 for troops residing on the left bank of the river Rhein.
..... there are 2 side-effects, though:
1) There's a chance that you get huge units (as arty units may have 1000+ personnel at full strength, a mixed FLAK Bn could have 1300-1400 troops, for example) once you've set the units to full strength.
2) These changes (reducing ammo-levels) will become obsolete at 0300 hrs (3:00 a.m.) on the next day, right when the (fixed) scheduled resupply will kick in, transforming such arty units into fully fledged (+scary) assets.
These changes do have some impact tho, as the german AI/player in my scenario has to be careful and provide economical arty support on the first day.
Also, taking all vehicles from mortar units, and reducing general vehicle support, really adds some spice there as it hampers the German units' maneuverability , since vehicles won't be replaced during a given scenario.
My 2 cents.

Ahh one more thing:
I think you should go for taking away let's say 95% of an arty units' heavy equipment, really. An arty unit with like 1 or 2 howitzers left wouldn't do much damage, even if it would fire all the time.
I think that this would be an interesting and a valid substitution and would make up for the lack of adjustable supply deliveries in HttR.
A lil example from the historic Battle for the Bulge: While the 1hr-barrage, prior to the Germans starting the main thrust, had been conducted by some 1700-1800 (IIRC) guns and Nebelwerfer, some sectors suffered of severe supply problems.
Example: there were sectors where German inf got as "many" as 7 arty rounds (!) a day as support fire - due to rationed ammunition, according to accounts from veterans I've seen on TV last year.
If you want to simulate something like that then take away ammo (using my method for the first day) and go for taking away most of their precious guns.
My 2 cents.

Hi GoodGuy-
Appreciate youre reply!
Just wish we could adjust the amount of resupply.
Hopefully if not in the Bulge game but the next one, we will have more control over the supply amount.
