Excellent review - only one thing to add, which is that you can in fact target buildings. Just place area fire next to the wall of the building you want to target, so that the blue box overlaps the buildling itself.

Thanks Erik. I enjoyed playing the game and I'm into another campaign. We'll see if the review generates some genuine PC discussion over at Wargamer, rather than just PC vs CM debates. The series has a lot of potential. [8D]

A good review - not sure I agree that the graphics are not as good as CM though.  IMHO overall they are better.

The later CM releases had better graphics and are certainly close in many respects to Panzer Command. However, the original CMBO definitely was not (but mods and patches improved that). The reviewer does state that CMBO's graphics were not as good. In our subjective opinion, Panzer Command looks better than the whole series (and should be graphically, given the time that has passed since CMBO first came out!), but does not yet have the full range of terrain for comparison. The next expansion should help with that. For comparison, a shot from CMBO and a shot from Panzer Command:

And Panzer Command:

To be fair, here's a shot from CMBB:

And finally, a similar but winter shot from Panzer Command...

Might a civilian add that PzC's camera action/movement is EXPONENTIALLY better than that found in some other games?

True but I would love to scroll the map with the mouse, like a pdf in acrobat.

Just curious if it is worth waiting for a commercial demo (when is it coming out?) or if trying the technical demo will give a good overview of the game? Thanks

If you don't mind reading the manual, the technical demo is fine. The commercial one will have a tutorial and more "at a glance" documentation as well as some additional info/preview screens. However, for general gameplay of one level the technical demo is fine - but I really advise looking through the manual before playing.

- Erik

As I have only played the demo of CMBO, and CMBB, I don't have much info to compare it to Panzer Command. In my opinion Panzer Command is an awsome looking game, and the interface is intuitive. Between the graphics and the sound, I find the game very immersive.

I can hardly wait for the next game in the series. Great job for all who had a hand in building this game.

Thanks for the quick reply Erik. I will definitely check it out (and read the manual [:)]).

I think the only thing Panzer Commander is missing the mark on is scenario creation.  Would be nice to create some custom maps in the way you can with
the Combat Mission series.

Stay tuned on that, Chelm. We agree and have already made progress on that front, though a full map editor will still take a lot more work.
