problem with screen in sceneditor

I am currently building a scenario with Vance and as I am working on the OOB mostly and Vance on the map, I need to upgrade the map in use regularly.

But my display isn't correct (see pic), I am missing part of the screen.
Anyone an idea how to fix this?

I am working on a DELL laptop with 1024 x 768 in 32 bits, so that shouldn't be the problem I guess.

Thanks,

Bas

Check your DPI settings - they should be 96 DPI, not 120

Control Panel - Display - Settings - Advanced

Doubt that this is the problem as that would have a similar effect on the game itself as well, but you never know

Thanks Eddy. Unfortunately, it didn't work as my fonts are already at 96 DPI. And indeed, the normal game does work properly and even the mapmaker works OK, so it is only the sceneditor that doesn't work!

Dave, do you have any advice in this?

Thanx,

Bas

Might also be a font problem. It's quite possible the scenmaker uses a font that is not used in either the game or mapmaker and which is not installed on your computer. When that's the case Windows picks a "near" font ... based on the name of the missing font.

A quick scan of the exe gave me these fonts :

Arial
Comic Sans
Comic Sans MS
Courier
Courier New
Tahoma
Times New Roman
Verdana

Dave can probably tell you which font is used in the offending graphics.

It looks like the tool bar portion. I'll check and get back to you.

TT3129 - SM - Determine which font is used in Toolbar portion of the Sidebar

Since Dave's always busy and might forget I suggest reminding him of this every hour or so [:D]

OK this is going to sound very strange
My dialogue box side bar problems has been fixed

I was going to try to reinstall the the ARIAL true fonts I read somewhere they can become corrupted so I downloaded off the net

to my annoyance I delete the wrong font and had accedently deleted the areal bold true type i think it was called ?? my mistake

and when i tried to uninstall the arial true font it said they were in use so i couln't
So i left it and then wated for errors to occure for my mistake

A while later i felt like a game of COTA and i couldnt believe my eyes it was fixed !!! all fonts slide bar fit I i new how to take a screen image i would show you here !!!

I hope this helps you baskreuger and Arjuna

So the fonts were the problem i guess not the dpi but the fact that bold fonts were somehow being used

and please excuse my spelling i am so excited that it is fixed i wanna get back to the game
see ya

Hi Martyran,

Which font do you think was the one that made the screen look good again? Then I can DL that one and see what will happen.

Thanks,

Bas

Bas,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I'm waiting on some definitive advice from Paul, who wrote the code for the SM. However, I did a search and the following fonts appear to be used somewhere in the code:
  • Arial
  • Comic Sans
  • Courier
  • Tahoma
  • Times Roman
  • Verdana
  • MS San Serif
  • MS Shell Dlg
  • Small Fonts
