A valued friend of mine once wrote those words to me -- it was Bill Wilder, the dean of SPWaW scenario designers.
With all the arguments about ratings and historical correctness, sometimes we gamers just wanna get down to it and wreak some havoc on the battlefield.
A great frustration reliever, and no one gets hurt in the process.
That's the truth of the matter, isn't it? [:D]

I have been also known to do this after a bad day at work. It tends to relax me a tad

I usually prefer more simple games to do the work of stress relief like that. Stuff like Call of Duty, Wolfenstien 3D, and DooM are good for that. SPWaW is for when I want to think; to test myself and my abilities, or to enjoy randomly organizing cores.

I tend to head for my Xbox if I am in a purely destructive mood, but there is something highly calming about a field strewn with burning AFVs....

Erwin,
That is the most succinct summary of the Cat2 philosophy I've heard in a long while.

Erwin,
That is the most succinct summary of the Cat2 philosophy I've heard in a long while.
Well, Victor, I guess there's a bit of the "Cat2" in all of us. Yes, I lean historical, but I sure like to win, and not just to paralyze the enemy, but destroy him completely. Against the latter-war Japanese, complete destruction often becomes necessary. This satisfies my occasional bloodthirstiness quite well.
