With the revised version is there going to be a way of using an LW JG say 109s to intercept a bomber group from a dinstant airfield where they wouldnt be able to return. But then landing them at a closer airport to refuel before or after the battle then to fly back to there original base?

Also for all countries, I find it really weird if your plane is damaged you would fly 200km (example) to your base and not land at the af 10 km away? are you able to add this in?
like Lancasters instead of flying back to base you land at an af close to the coast.

Sorry if these have already been mentioned and you have them

Thanks :)

Not in the initial release, but the second item is definately on my wish list for a patch. I just have to work out how to do it, then how to add delay time to represent the time taken to return the plane and flight crew back home...

That sounds great. Couldn't the plane be returned to the pool or show up on the squadron as damaged? The pilot could show as WIA for a random time between 2 and 10 days to simulate the time it would take to potentially be ready for ops again. These would utilise routines that are already in the game.

Yeah, you're on the right path, but I can't go into the back-end specifics, but something like that...

LOL
I was going to say, we have been talking about this and have some ideas, but not when we can get it in:)

one thing, you don't want to reset the pilots into the placement pool, that screws up a lot more things, but maybe the idea of just giving them a 1 or 2 day ding, to act as the time spent returning, may work

one area that is screwy (and in WitP too), is the idea that a lot of times, units flew to forward bases, and then flew there mission, returned to the forward base, refuelled and then returned home, so units with a range 300 miles, but 400 miles away from a target, could fly maybe 150 miles closer, refuel and then hit the target, in real life it worked, in game, it is you are in range or you are not

the LW did a lot a shuttling to forward bases while the raids were forming up

but I am glad Harley spoke up, I am getting tired of saying, maybe later

One more question or suggestion , a save converter could be designed to continue our old pbem battles
with btr mkI to btr mkII ?
Of course even if the conversion is very roughly , you will make two happy gamers , Hms Warspite and me
(200 and 80 turns )

Hi Th
long time

well, I not the programmers, but

I really don't think that is going to happen

Wow, I think that would be recoding a new game all by itself

too many slots and too many links

one reason from before, when you got a new OOB, you needed to restart to see it

well, lets wait and see what Harley thinks, but

Nah, that's not gonna work.

We've made massive changes to the structure of the save, which we can deal with, but also to the background data members, which we can't really just convert.

There's new data types, new data members... We've re-structured the fuel use model, the upgrade paths, the factory upgrades and the replacement systems, and the old saves won't know squat about them. We can't just create them out of thin air, as TOH_BTR had 2 "stock" OB, plus about 10 iterations of the custom OB...

So, sorry... But, you might get time to finish the game first... [:D]

This may have been asked but will it be possible to adjust alt during raid plotting. ie: leave base at 500ft, cross the enemy coast and pull up prior to bomb run, then drop back to 500ft for RTB?  This tatic was regularly used to sneak in below radar.

I think Harley had mention that it could be doable, just when and how much work it would take and for what fun it would bring in later

right now, too much is going on

but something to look at in a bit
