UNIT REPORT

this is sort of a stupid question but in the unit report it says
54/54 Rifle Squad
is that 54 of 54 men or 54 of 54 squads

So in this case the unit has the 3 lines which indicates a regiment approx. 1000 to 2000 men
54/54 rifle squad- 540 men
27/27 SMG squad 270 men
36/36 medium MG 36 men
36/36 60mm mortar 36 men
6/6 120mm mortar 6 men
10/10 45mm AT gun 10 men
18/18 82mm mortar 18 men
4/4 76mm gun 4 men
35/38 truck 35 men
approx 1000 men although i think the AT, 76mm require more than 1 man each. Is this sort of the count.

Yeah - though those heavy weapon systems no doubt have more than one man a piece.

Depends on the era as well, today a 'basic' squad is(at least in finland) 7 men strong. Also mortars need more than 1 men(I think it's about a squad), same applies for all heavy weapons(at-guns etc). Even machineguns need 2-3 men.

Then there's the personnel that doesn't appear in TOAW at all. Runners, clerks, cooks etc.
Infantry regiments tend to be more like 2500-3000 men.

Yeah, thank God Nielhorster got Orbats to host his site. I use to go to his freeport-tech site, but then I went back after a month or two and it was gone. Took me forever to find his site on Orbat, but I'm sure glad I did. That site has a wealth of info on it.
