Effect of firepower

Hi
Just downloaded the demo.
Gettings to grips with the game and control of the commands. First kind of game that I've played like this.
Playing the german side, my tanks have knocked out some russian armour, then finds the russian infantry in different buildings. Some of my panzers got knocked out because thay were ambushed too near the buildings. My own fault I guess[:@]
The other tanks repond(I have given the orders) fire with AP,HE and MG at the buildings.I even called down artillary fire. (Not that it did much good. Found it a waste of time buying) Now my russian is not that good but I got the feeling that that the infantry were taking the mickey of me.Impossible to destroy the buildings after2/3 rounds Imanaged to destroy the enemy forces but only after losing more of my armour.

Now the questions? Shouldn't it be possible to flaten those buildings? Also if I suspect enemy troops hiding in a building shouldn't I be able to fire and destroy a building rather than be ambushed?
Plus I'm sure in WW2 the German tanks were capable of knocking out enemy positions.[;)]

Maybe I'm not cut out to be a general. But I'm sure that bringing down so much firepower onto 1!! building/platoon should have more devastating results.

Greetings from a Panzersoldat on the Eatern Front, wondering if the REich can help[:'(]

Eric should be responding soon, after he finishes changing diapers.

Glad you enjoyed the demo.

Buildings in PCOWS are not destructable. You can area fire at a building with troops inside and the splash effect will effect those troops. Don't fire at suspected locations.
City fighting in PC is tough. Better to go around if you can.

Hi, British Exel, if you focus HE and machine gun fire on the infantry targets, not the buildings, for a few rounds you should either rout them or kill them.  Make sure it says "Good" or "Average Chance to Hit" still when you click on the target, just targeting the building isn't necessarily enough.  Don't get too close (within 30 meters) or drive way around them instead.  The game definitely gives you the difficult challenge panzer commanders faced-- is it better to drive around enemy strongpoints or stick around and pummel them?

Arty seems to work better in the open (i usually shell wooded areas in the path of my Panzers' advance).

Tried the various suggestions, yes they do work staying away from buildings does help. Tough that when you're advancing having to leave some of your force behind to control the "flags", because you know/feel that the enemy is lurking in some of the buildings waiting to recapture the "flag".
I think that PC is going to to be purchased, just have to convince girlfriend that I NEED another game.
Thanks again for all your help, much appreciated
