What mods should I use for historical accuracy?

I am a new player to WitP but have been playing WWII strategy games for a long time. I have played the tutorial a couple of times and enjoyed it a lot. I would like to start a bigger game, but before I get heavily involved, I would like to apply some obvious mods to increase historical accuracy (japanese ground troops heavy weapons for example)...Is there a list of mods that a new install needs to get up to standards? Thanks and I am really excited about planning my grand take back of the Pacific Theatre....

CHS maybe ? It stands for Combined Historical Scenario. You need Andrew Brown's map for that too. Bot add lots to be historically accurate. There is also RHS, but it's still sort of test-bed.

I would recommend the CHS too. The RHS still has a lot of work before its ready for prime time.

I've been playing the CHS and while I have found some things I would like to tweak (the armament on some aircraft is wrong and the range of some aircraft makes them much less useful than they were in the real world), I like it overall.

I'm thinking of adding some stuff from RHS to CHS that I like, mainly some range adjustments (drop tanks) and aircraft rockets etc. So far, IMHO, best modelled A2A combat is in CHS2.08 Experimental A2A version (scen160, for example).

Here are some useful links:

CHS website

Spooky's website

RHS website

Personally, I will not go back to a stock game on the stock map. You should choose a game that has modified the A2A combat (Nik Mod for example)

I think that RHS 5.10 is going to be a significant improvement over previous versions of RHS... and I'm not just talking about the airplane changes here...

When RHS EOS 5.1 comes out I'm going to rip out the supply sinks and start a long-term PBEM with it.... I've run the game in 44 and 45 under RHS EOS 5.01 and uebercap, and while difficult, it IS possible for the Japanese to attrit a carrier's CAP in 44 and 45 in RHS.... The Japanese AI has managed to sink at least a dozen CVs and CVEs from mid-44 to mid-45 (mostly with kamikaze attacks) and I think that's a good sign.

Thanks for all the input...I went with the CHS with the A2A mods similar to the Nik mod....Looks good so far but I have only played one turn in the extended map full campaign. I am playing the allies....Thanks.
