Will the patch address the issue of the Forts\Church's not being recognised when within a city\town\village?
Also....come on already;)

No I'm sorry. That one must have slipt through the net. Actually I just checked and it is in TaskTracker but marked for the next game. ( TT2995 ) I'm not going to hold up the patch because of it. We'll address this in BFTB.
We're currently waiting on Matrix to fix a few bugs in the installer package. Should be sorted out very soon.

Shame as I imagine they could make a difference in a battle.

Part of the problem lies with the limited number of layers we have available for representing terrain and the way the dominant terrain is determined. We will be exploring ways we can revise the map classes to expand and improve on this.

Super. Would there be any chance once BotB is finished we could have an updated CotA?

Woden, one simple fix for the fort/town bug, wherever this occurs, is to redraw the towns in MM so that there is a "hole" (or town square, if you will) where the fort is. then build the terrain tables and map cache.
Then have Rooster, JeF, or El Savior post the updated maps on their websites. [8D]
Hope this helps.

wodin,
Our policy is to not update older titles with each new release. Our focus is on developing the engine with each new release and this therefore makes it diffficult to maintain backward compatibility. Doing so would only delay significantly the release of new titles. Financially we could not afford to do that. Maybe one day when we're selling heaps of copies we can do so. But not for now.

Would be fine to at least make sure that old scenarios are playble with the new games.
Wasn't someone here trying to get the HTTR scenarios runing in COTA?

BigDuke66,
I'm sorry but we made our policy quite clear on this earlier. In view of the improvements to the engine that we make with each new game, it would require a significant investment of time and money to ensure backward compatibility. It is just not economical for us to do this. As I said maybe one day when we have a bigger user base we can look at doing this, but until we can gain a certain level of sales it would be unwise.
By way of example it would probably take us six months to rework all the scernarios from HTTR. In not much longer we hope to put out a new title. The new title will sell for $50 and we'll make X sales. If we were to re-release a new version of HTTR how many people would pay $50 for that, when they own the original, and how many would bother to buy it. My guess is that we couldn't charge more than $30 for it and then sales would probably be less than X/2.
Given our hand to mouth existence it does not make economical sense.
We did however undertake to provide a full set of Market Garden Estabs with the Bulge estabs. This will then enable users to redesign the HTTR scenarios with BFTB. That is the best we can do for now.

I'm installing the new Installer as we speak. If that passes muster I'll be authorising Matrix to let it rip! [:)]

Gee thanks Dave. Just after I bought Distant Guns to keep me entertained while waiting for the patch. Guess I'll have to multiplex my games again!

Well I did find one small problem - the Read Me button failed to open the Read Me file. Greg is going to fix that directly and I should sign off tomorrow. He advises that it will be ready for download next week - let's hope early next week, hey? [:)]
