Start up menu 1.2.26

Fresh install along with patch, played yesterday with out any issues. Go to start up where I left off, and I click the desk icon which pulls up the main start up page. All options are working fine except………… PLAY. [:D]
Exit the page and head over to the installed game folder to proceed to copy a new icon to desktop and just for grins double click to insure that indeed was the issue.
Nothing, I mean nothing happens. Do I have any other alternatives except to do a re-install/re patch to get the game up and running again.
