G'day Folks,

I can't run an official poll here but I'm going to run my own anyway.

I want to release the HUD3 with a selection of rebuilt original scenarios (those that come with the game). one of the features of the HUD3 will be its continued compatibility with the original game scenarios (after rebuild).

So here's the basis of my "Poll"

Name your favourite scenario from the Battlesets that are available in the scenario selection screen when you are using ODB. Standard H3/ANW database scens.

Now I know Dale and Herman will post but they have their own database issues to worry. I'm happy to hear from them and I hope I will. BUT...

Let's hear from people who don't post so often in here if I'm going to have any idea what people would like to see in the Harpoon Users' Database 3 initial release. Community input and feedback from users and potential users of Database and Scenario Designer's work is essential if the guys who put in the work are going to produce what the silent majority of the Harpoon community really want or would like to see.

So don't be shy, even if you post the scen's name and nothing else chances are I'll rebuild it for you
If nothing else we can start discussing some of the good points of your experiences with ANW so far.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to make note that this is the "Official" forum. Maybe we as a community need to start using it as such. I'm sure many of you will remember the past glory of the HULL list and I can't see why, instead of petty in-fighting and point scoring (we're all guilty) we can't all use this facility to further a sense of what we are all about.... Playing Harpoon ANW.

"The taking of Sakhalin", "To protect the Queen" and "A Fight to the Death" easily spring to mind. All from Global Conflicts 1.

I found the North Star Exercises and FOST series to be very good.

Three of my old favorites were, To Protect the Queen, Fight to the Death, and Okinawa.

Taken under advisement. I'm overcoming a few PC issues right now but once everything's 100% I'll be releasing rebuilds/edits of those three scenarios as part of a general reconstruction of the ODB scens to HUD3/H3 ANW 3.8 specs.

Looking forward to hearing what people think when I have the scens out for general release.

There must have been some cosmic energy floating around in July last year, looks like the Harpoon bug only took a couple of days to bite both of us again. Looking at our Matrix "Joined" dates.

I've almost completed an update of "Black Sea Fleet" for H3ANW 3.8.0, as well as working through the old HUDII to bring it up to 3.8.0 spec. The new database will be renamed to HUD3 to reflect the third incarnation of the DB and it just happens to correspond to the version of the game we're playing now.

Keep an eye on your email I may have to float a copy of the updated DB for you to take a look at. Maybe I could entice you to rebuild/edit your H2 scens with the new DB even? Great to see you back Ralf.

Great! So mind that those shipwrecks don´t attack land targets like in the old ODB - always play Ukraine and using ODB this means fighting with VERY limited assets [;)]

Oh - my old H2 scens! Have them all. Think they are even still published at Dr. Who´s pages. Rebuild them with HUD 3? Why not? I just have to organize my ressources - have restarted doing a lot of H3 [:)]

Those pages are still very valuable for the whole community. Think they´ve been up since the mid 90ies? They are very important concerning hosting old stuff and still serve as a meeting point I think. Its something like a church where all confessions are welcome...

Thank you for your interest. So these old files will get their second life! Really surprising.

But first thing will to get AGSIs permission to rebuild them with HUD. At least one scen had been pulled from Dr. Who´s pages because it was too close to the original scens. These were my first steps designing scens and thus I sometimes leaned too much on the official scens. Or can I assume that all those of them which had not been pulled are ok and I can relaunch them with AGSIs permission?

Second is it´ll need some time. I´ll restart writing (completely new) H3 scens at HHQ in the first place. Next probably will be to test the HUD 3 as Darren asked. Doing this I´ll rebuild my H2 scens - if the first issue is clear. I will not convert them 1:1 from old ODB or old HUD to HUD 3; it will be real new overworked versions which should be of a higher quality.

If they are finished you are welcome and free to post them at Dr. Who´s pages - thats their natural place [;)] They are part of our common history.
