I have installed the newest patch and have had problems ever since with the game going very slow. Just giving orders is more time consuming due to the fact that when i click done or exit there is a pause for sevral seconds, I can here the click but the window stays open for several seconds longer. then when Iam done planning my turn there is a real long pause for a few minutes or longer after I end my phase before the AI starts its turn. The first time it did this i hit ctrl+alt+del thinking the game locked up , task manager opened and said the game was not responding so i ended it, restarted comp and game it did the same thing again , that time i just let it sit and it finally started. Any suggestions?

Wow! The latest patch did not produce that experience for me. What are the specs of your PC (CPU speed, memory, Windows version).

3.2 ghz p4 , 1gb ram , 256 gforce , xp home ed
no changes at all,   except the patch 
everything else runs same as usual
its got me stumped!![&:]
 
 

That PC should be fine - obviously. The only slowness that I noted is that when the game first starts up it is slow to jump around the map. Seems like it's still getting things cached or something. Otherwise it's fine. Wish I had an idea for you. Sorry.

You havnt got anything running in the background do you ? i always find my game grinds to a crawl when the computer decides to do a virus scan ( semingly at random) or just starts upgrading the latest version of windows ( which i dont use anyway).

just a thought

Nothing running other than WITP ,  guess I will just reinstall and try that  [:(]
