I was going to say that the power fried everytihnig on my hard drive, but Shereen (wife) said that would be cruel.

I was left with just pen and paper but got some things done. Not what I had had scheduled, though.

I laid out the entire 4th tutorial on land units and decided on some auxiliary routines I could write for the AIO on calculating the combat value of units on map, in the force pool, and in production. The AIO routines will let me examine different schemes for assigning combat values to units in the present, the future (in production), and possible (force pool). I can then apply the routines to the starting positions of each of the 11 scenarios and see whether they work the way I want them to (assign the right relative values for land/naval/air strength of each major power). It shouldn't be that hard to do and will provide some interesting numbers for analysis.

I was also about to ask you this.
Indeed, it may seem crazy, but I for one has one. [:D]
I'm making a scripted backup of all my working files (I'm using Karen's Replicator) every evening both on an external USB hard drive and on a second PC that I can use if the first one has problems (which happened 3 times since the re-starting of MWiF in July 2005). I own 3 external USB drives, one that is attached to my computer, another identical that I store at my parent's home (I swap both every 2-3 weeks) and a third that I store at my regular work and that I update weekly. [:D]

I hate loosing data, which happened to me only when I dared trust my company, with office data. They lost all my Exchange personal files.

I have off-site backup in a safety deposit box. My paranoia is not as severe as Patrice's.

I should have added "for which you have recently done a test restore..." I can't count how many times I have heard about people who were confident they had a full backup script running every night until they tried to mount the restore tape.

i thought you lived in Honolulu -- from news accounts i thought it was only the big island that was affected!

6.6 followed by 5.9 is enough to make things shake a long ways away. The electirc generators on Oahu are 2 stories tall and have cooling towers that are 10 stories high. When the shaking started they shut down automatically to prevent the moving parts from becoming disconbobbulated. Crews then insepect everything and bring the customers back on line a few thousand at a time (259,000 customers).

This is from the 50 air units that were suppose to be done yesterday. It seems apropos.
