Noob question

Ive been lurking here for the last week or so and have been impressed with the look of the maps, units and interface. I am not familiar with WiF so can anyone who knows tell me how it will play. I am relatively new to wargaming and only recently bought TAOWIII. The only other games I really know are HTTR and COTA.
I am asking because I am interested in possibly buying when it is released based on what I have seen in the forums.

The Directory thread in the top section of the MWIF forum gives a pretty good background on MWIF.
The tutorials are being written for a new player. They are unfinished, but you might find them of interest. Tutorials #2 and #3 (separate threads) are finished. In the Tutorial thread there is most of #1 and #4.
