Hi All,

To be or not to be?
Will there be PBEM for you and me?

Regards John

Hi All,

I would not call Close Combat RTS. Rather than real time strategy it is more like consistent time tactical. And as they are remaking it perhaps PBEM could be included. I ask because I do not have a lot of time for TCP play.

Regards John

From playing the previous CC games, a battle usually takes less than 15 minutes. I dont see any way that it could be converted to a PBEM format.

I have rarely played an online game that has been concluded in that short space of time, save those games where my opponent has rushed my MG posts in the open.

It is difficult to see how CC could be made to work with PBEM.  It (CC) is strictly real time tactical.  Both of you have to be there at the same time to get a result.  Actions can be as long as you set the timer or the result of the battle, whichever comes first.  Experienced players tend to have the timer quite low as the AI could bore you to death if you put a long timer on (it needs a bit of a kick up the backside to get a move on sometimes).

That is with regards to the AI of course.  H2H/Online is a different animal altogether!  A battle is as long or as short as the players make it, and there is no enemy AI to make a battle predictable ;)

It's definitely an RTS game there is no such thing as "real time tactical" in the gaming market. People just makeup crap descriptions to make the game more preferable "sounding". But, nevertheless it's an RTS clickfest game. ;)

LOL!  Now you are just trying to wind me up...  There is bugger all Strategic about CC :) even CC4 and 5 are pretty poor in that department, so RTS is a non starter.  And clickfest?  Come come, thou playest most mischievously ;)

You make your plans

You give your orders

As soon as your men leave the start lines, your plans go to hell.

Issue new orders, aaargh, we've lost contact with the forward patrols.

Enemy armour reported on our left.

The right flank is calling for artillery support.

The first casualties trickle back through the haze.

Where is our armour!

The river crossing is reported secured and contact made on each flank.

Reserves are brough forward to prepare for the inevitable counter attack.

With my heart in my throat I assemble my brave brothers and plan our next operation.
