The Soviets on computer control can be a bit of a problem. I have had to wait up to 5 or more minutes while the computer reruns move after move, fake attack after fake attack.

Definately go into the options and cut the animation delay down from the current .5 seconds to something like .2 for enemy moves. That should help quite a bit.
